not the same but like edmonton. teams are gonna want our valuable plyers not the ones we don't even want on our team. the best scenario for those guys is sideway trades of just trade a guy like smith for a 4rth rounder. at this point we're not gonna win any trade. maybe methot closer to the deadline might bring a second rounder back and a mid level prospect.

Sens have a lot of pieces and fact is the Sens had a good run for years but like a lot of other things hockey is cyclical and the Sens are now in that down cycle. Years like this will allow the guys like Karlsson to grow into his role, it will allow Turris to find his way in a new role, it will allow Lehner to find his groove, etc, etc, etc.

They aren't making the playoffs and I think these two games sealed it, if they tank I would be disgusted but obviously you hope if they miss they miss big.

that is such a problem...

what to do, what to do, what to do....

If they are willing to scratch Cowen for Borowiecki you have to believe that they would be willing to trade him. Maybe I am talking out of my a$$ here but I wonder if that's actually the case?
Let's wait and see if Phillips is scratched next game, there was no way he was getting scratched on Alfie night.

I don't think Phillips will ever be a scratch but I don't think it's so far out there to quietly ask if he would like to play for a contender because these might be the last 2 seasons of his career and playing on a bottom feeder isn't a fun way to end things.

Trade deadline day will be fun this year again though and so will the draft. The rest of the season can be fun as well if people accept what this season is setting up for.

The sad reality is the team isn't very good, the effort is there, but the talent just isn't there. Some guys well beyond their best before date and some guys a couple years away.

Again the aging vets are really the ones that need to be moved... you can't move them all but you have guys like Turris, Ryan, Karlsson, MacArthur, all these guys are here long term and they need to make it their room, guys like Neil and Phillips need to move on and that's not a knock but the room needs to change.  Alfi is gone, Spezza is gone, Phillips and Neil need to be gone.  They also deserve the chance to play for a contender while playing the back 9, the time is coming.

Need leaders need to emerge, new roles need to be defined, a new team needs to find a new identity so you just hope they build towards that.  A lot of good pieces and some guys need to step up and take control of that room but it's hard with Mom and Dad around to be the head of the family (Phillips and Neil).  Again that isn't a knock on them it's just the way it is, they need to move on from the old guard at this point because they are not going anywhere.

that is not happening while BM is alive. maybe if another Gm regime is installed this summer. but I agree, that's exactly what needs to happen. the transition kids (smith, condra and greening) would be/ should be next.

We lost that game because Cowen was scratched.

Kidding but Maclean is not a good coach. His Jack adams was a mirage. Vets need to go and so do the coaches. Get Ray shero, get Dan Bylsma, and let's get it going.

This is going to sound morbid but Murray might be dying but he isn't dead and he sure as hell isn't stupid, he can see what's going on as clear as anyone else and there is no possible way they can win a cup this year, next year, or the year after. A lot of things have to happen before the Sens are contending again and Murray knows.

Still a young team without a star up front, Richardson might be and probably is the guy.

I hate to say it, but Karlsson looked the most dangerous when he was paired with Methot. Maybe Methot just gives him a level of security.

I love Turris but this team will need a number 1 centre going forward. Turris is a really good 2.

He was dangerous all game against St.Louis too... don't think that's the case at all but if they move Phillips and Wiercioch you can probably give in to Methot a little.

Turris can be a #1 center but they don't have a #2 or anyone that can score at a somewhat regular pace. There is no reason Turris can't have a Kreici behind him or that sort of thing. A Sharp, a Pavelski, w/e, a guy who can score a little. They think it will eventually be Lazar but he's 19.

The problem people have right now is they can't see 2, 3 years down the line with any player or the team in general. People need to take a step back and see where they are heading not where they are now.

I am projecting out, I just think Turris is a 2 on a good team.

Is Turris an ideal #2? Probably. Can he be a #1 and is he? Yah he is IMO but the talent around him is lacking for sure and there still are not clear, defined roles outside of Karlsson and Turris.

This is just like last year with two main differences:
1. We can't blame it all on Spezza
2. We have a 1st round pick

They will hang around and keep it close because of other teams' incompetence. In the end, they'll miss the playoffs and more move will be made. I just hope they miss by more than 4 points.

You're talking out of your Donkey lol.
That GWG was Boro and Gryba. No matter how solid they are for a bottom pairing, they will have moments like these because they are not skilled enough.
