If I had a mouthful of coffee at the start of reading that it would have been all over my monitor by now.

Larry Kelly has screwed Methot's relationship with Ottawa up so badly there is no going back, it's a matter of time before he's shipped off.

Probably to some extent but I get the feeling Murray and Melnyk gave a lot of unsolicited advice to MacLean which I don't think he should take right or wrong. Why hire a coach if you're going to tell him how to do his job?
I think MacLean tried to push this team(maybe too hard or in the wrong way) to the next level of competition and they folded like a cheap lawn chair.
It seems the Sens are a country club, where star players are to be coddled and not singled out or held accountable to any significant degree and having fun and cronyism take precedence over developing a winning culture.
I have no idea what the team management is thinking at all.

Simply trying to pound them into submission is something Torts would do and it is not the recipe for long-term success. P-Mac obviously didn't take it to that extreme, but maybe there was a bunch of behind the scenes stuff we weren't privy to.
Whatever...we'll likely find out (again) pretty soon that coaching wasn't the real issue.
NEELY wrote:Sounds like the Sens are actively trying to get an arena built at Lebreton... amazing if true. If they do they better make sure it's an 18,000 seat arena where tickets are somewhat scarce and demand is high. They need to make it a place people want to be vs a place where the Sens play and there are always tickets available. Hopefully this can get done within the next decade which I think is a fair timeline.

Yes they are, with approx 2000-3000 parkings spots, hotel and thousands of square feet of retail as well.

From what I've seen on the ice, coaching was at least a big part of the issue. It amazes me how these guys actually play the system they're told to play in spite of their egos and whatnot. It'll be easy enough to spot the difference and I'm anxious to see the 1st 2 games.
