Go back to watching football. Nashville outplayed us, but thankfully we had Lehner and Neil to save the day at the end.

Ok but I'm tired o hearing how a goalie doing his job is stealing a win. We've proven that we need to give up shots to play well. Nashville is not a scary team, they can get all the shots they want

Lehner and Cowen were amazing.

Win feels good. Why did Montreal have to beat up on the Blues, though. They are going to be mad now. Oh, well, let's hope they hate after no games. Sens had a lot of practice with those.

Proud to say I never gave up on Cowen. There's 2 of us on this board Wink

I 100% gave up on Cowen, completely. Didn't think there was any way he could turn it around and thought his development was crushed by injuries. Clearly that isn't the case because he's been unreal.

Even then the Sens dominated the 2nd and I thought the 3rd was played fairly evenly, not a bad game overall for the Sens after a long road trip IMO other than the 1st period. Also you are right, goalies are part of the team and most good teams have goalies who can steal games so... not sure what the big deal is leaning on your goalies when you have lapses especially for a young, developing team.

There's nothing wrong with having your goalie steal games. We have the best tandem in the league, which is amazing.

It'd just be nice to see us carry the play more. We were outshot 35-19 which is pretty indicative of how the majority of the game went. As Craig Button stated in one of the intermissions, we have an "unhealthy reliance on goaltending."

So did a few teams who won the cup in the past... goalies are game changers in hockey and always have been.

Outside of the 1st period that game was pretty even.

I changed my avatar to Cowen a few weeks ago. Clearly, this is my doing.

Next, I have to get an avatar of Greening and a one-way plane ticket.

Kings won a Cup or two pretty much by Quick alone

Roy won two cups alone, Price is carrying MTL to 1st place in the NHL, Thomas set NHL records for the Bruins in the playoffs, Ward, Quick, both buys who carried their teams. Don't care how my team wins as long as they win.

I'll admit to giving up on Cowen too. Can't believe he rebounded.

Boston would have been out in the first round if not for Thomas.

Especially when you consider that this was not a 1-0 shootout victory. They gave up the first goal (bad penalty; really bad, surprised he had any ice time after that), came back, built a two-goal lead an then Lehner held that lead.

Just re-watched a few plays. That Volchenkov hit on Turris should have been a penalty. He didn't just hit him right in the numbers but he extended his arms as he did it. True, Turris turns a bit at the last second but that's because he was playing the puck. Also not sure he saw A-Train coming because he came behind from Turris' right and Turris glanced over his left shoulder to look for a pass. Not saying suspendable, but should have been a penalty.

Then with under 2 to go there was a play at the blue line where Borowiecki was hit by Smith. At first I thought it was knee-on-knee (which it was, a bit) but then I saw it again and SMith's stick hit Borowiecki right across the mouth. That's two badly missed calls in the last 3:20. Would have made the finish much less exciting.

Yes, the Preds outshot the Sens, but after that rusty first the Sens owned them in the second and played very evenly in the third, with the exception of the last couple of minutes.

Pretty much. Either way the Sens came out with 2 points against a pretty good team.
