When healthy he is the best 3rd line centre in the league and a top PK guy. He can play 2nd line centre when needed for short periods of time. He is a winner and a leader. Disregard the stats just like you do with Spezza's points.rooneypoo wrote:NEELY wrote:I don't think the term or money was awful.
In what world is a 40-point tweener worth $5.5 mil / yr?

Let's be real, Michalek is a better player than Pouliot.
Says a lot of good things about OTT that he wants to come back, too. Good to have a vet presence also.
I don't think he is better anymore, his knee is always basically injured and he's only really produced with Spezza.
It sounds like they struck out on guys like Pouliot and Jokinen so they went back to 9MM.

Just wait until next year when the 10-11M contracts start coming in for 1st line players, even those who aren't elite.rooneypoo wrote:Oglethorpe wrote:When healthy he is the best 3rd line centre in the league and a top PK guy. $5.5 mil for the best third line centre in the league. F'ing ouch.

Liking where they are going and not liking the return on Spezza are not mutually exclusive. That was a poor return.

It's been 2 hours and the Sens have traded Spezza and resigned Michalek, lol. High standards.

You are right on that.
Sens fans love to complain.
I hate losing Spezza as you know.. but it was something that had to be done.
Go younger, go bigger and a really good draft coming in 2015.

Spezza is 6'3" 220; Chiasson is 6'3" 206. We got younger, yes, but not bigger, not yet.
Unless you're talking about Da Costa and Conacher (and I still think there's a good chance Pageau gets moved).
Damn, I wish I knew more about Chiasson because the stats say very little. Does he hit? Does he kill penalties? Is he fast?
The other two guys are 2-3 years away at best. 2nd rounder in 2015, even longer.
Sorry, really hard to get excited other than finally getting over it and, of course, Michalek. Although that's not so much excitement as relief, maybe.
