If you think Anderson or Lehner will set another NHL record for SV% or we find another Bishop then I'm not sure we can continue this conversation.

Spezza *will* be missed. Addition by subtraction didn't work very well even when Yashin was dealt. The Sens dropped significantly in the standings the following year. And Yashin was pretty much despised in the room -- I hear nothing but good things about Spezza, even if he was lazy and soft.

I'm actually gonna go ahead and agree with Prager. It hasn't been a great day in Ottawa at all. Pretty much what we all feared down in our heart of hearts.

We spend no money again. No Bobby Ryan signing, no MacArthur signing, no big free agent signing - unless you count re-signing Michalek.

We traded a PPG C and got back a prospect as the centerpiece.

TSN panel re-iterates the rumour of a top 6 C coming to Ottawa for a prospect.

So there's that hope.

I have a lot more respect for Milan.

He left more money on the table and 2 yrs longer term with another team, but wanted to stay in Ottawa.

They gave it to Spezza hoping to appease his ego. He carried it so poorly that he needed to run away.

As I said like 3 years ago, Spezza is not a captain or a leader, and it was a mistake ever giving him the C.

Given the news about the offer to extend him, it's pretty clear that the franchise bent over backwards for this guy -- when, frankly, they shouldn't have. Good riddance.
