No, wouldn't use a contract on him if he was a UFA and went undrafted.  He will kill any team he is on and create a ton of BS while being a meh prospect to begin with.  People love to rip on Russian's, this kid is just as bad if not worse.

Kid and his family thinks the worlds against them and I would say he's never looked in the mirror before but he obviously knows he's a minority and pulled the race card because the last thing he would ever do is blame himself for his short comings.  Kid is going to fold like a cheap tent as a pro, the AHL won't be kind to him.

'Twas the eve of the NHL Draft...

The only thing interesting about this draft is the trade talk around it. Without a high first round pick, it's tough to get excited about any of the prospects.

Ekblad will go first though.

Edmonton should be pushing hard to trade up, but that would assume they have become competent.

Wow. My gut tells me stay away, stay very far away. But that skill. Do we have the team/coaching that can contain his character? And even if they did, how on earth do you re-sign someone who says, "If you’re going to pay me to do something I love, I’m going to go out there and produce for you so you’re going to have to pay me more."

No team does.  He will be an Islander in the 2nd round, you watch.
