Anyway, certainly seems like the Blues are the front runner.

TJ Oshie + Polak?  lol, I dunno.

Oshie + Polak? I doubt it. We'd be lucky to get Oshie straight up.

"No matter what I get, at the moment, it won't be enough" - Murray

Is Murray bracing us for a poor return?

With Dorion's comments regarding this year's poor draft it wouldn't surprise me if this trade happens after next Friday's draft and Murray goes for a 2015 pick instead.

Either way you'd hope this gets done before July 1 so we can have a clearer picture of what our needs are.

IMO Murray is making it out like he's doing everyone else a favour by trading Spezza to their team.  The "woe is me" thing works.  Spezza will get a good return and one that will help short and long term.

It's all typical management spin, trying to lower expectations for the fans while increasing the value of the asset...as Neely said "woe is me".  Also, the Sens are likely trying to get a 1st rounder back for Spezza, so by saying it's a weak draft class, they are downplaying the value of a pick they are trying to get.

Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray says he has two "serious" offers on the table for Jason Spezza, as trade speculation regarding his team captain has intensified over the last week.

One from St. Louis, one from Anaheim .....

I hate how Murray uses the media sometimes, but I also love how he uses the media other times. You know those two teams read that and sighed. This'll be a bidding war in the end.

Somewhat on topic fill in the blank:

The 20th pick in the 2014 draft is equivalent to the ____ pick in the 2015 draft.

From the sounds of things, it might be in the 31-40 range.

Really sounds like it'd be in the 2nd round for sure.

From what i just saw on the tsn article Murray says we should expect a player and a prospect? No pick? Not a top prospect? This is getting better and better....

Anaheim isn't giving us our 1st rounder back for sure.

One step at a time. If he's serious about just a player and a prospect, then the player will be a very good one most likely.

@NicholsOnHockey 32s
On #Sens' Jason Spezza, Kypreos says on HC@Noon "I hear a dark horse might be #TBLightning."

It's Krypreos though - who knows jack.

Unless the clear-cut best offer comes from within the division.

Murray said he did talk to Yzerman today in passing so... could be something there.  If they offer up Drouin I bet the Sens snap call.

That's the only way he is traded in division.  Tampa also has an extra pick this year and next (both NYR).  If they offer up Drouin and NYR's 1st round pick next year then that's a deal you take.

Also, if you look at Tampa they need a #1 center in a bad way because after Stamkos they don't have much and they will lose out on Stamkos' best years.  If they don't land a #1 center then they will be losing a lot of hockey games.  Not to mention Callahan isn't coming back.
