Spezza for Berglund, Paajarvi, prospect

That even true?

MPS would be a decent player to add to Ottawa's roster IMO.  A guy who can be a shut down specialist in the mold of an Axelson.  I have always liked MPS as a player, his upside was never that high though and hopefully he can find the right role somewhere and if he's part of a Spezza deal then cool.

Why Paajarvi? Talk about redundant, I'll take a 1st rounder over him any day. He doesn't have the offense to fit into our top 9.

Berglund, Rattie and 1st or Jaskin or someone like him. Done and done.

Or take out the first and add Sobotka. MPS wishes he could become Sobotka.

Don't think so, but I read M_Christopher tweet that out though. No idea if he's connected.

Very real chance if #sens move Spezza to #blues - Berglund, Paajarvi and Shattock or Hakapaa is the targetted return. Stance on draft fading

They wouldn't move Sobotka.

Get a 1st then or a piece we can really use. You have to admit MPS is redundant on the Sens. Too many guys like that, too few impact players.

If that's the return for Spezza move him to Anaheim lol.

I read that as Berglund, Paajarvi and Shattenkirk and immediately dismissed that rumour as BS. That won't be the return. What use is Shattock or Hakapaa right now? Berglund, yes. MPS, no. Crap prospect, no.

Berglund, Rattie, 1st rounder is the least we'd take I hope.

Nothing wrong with Paajarvi at all, just needs to be developed in a role and that will be a defensive winger who plays a north south game and can score some ugly goal.  Good throw in with any type of deal and if you move a guy like Greening with Spezza that could be a player that comes onto that 3rd line and excels.  A lot of if's there though so w/e.

Berglund I like, Rattie is meh, 1st would be fine (bottom 3rd).... Ottawa's best partner is Anaheim and that's where I hope they deal him.

I'd rather Greening than MPS, so...I don't see the point.

Rattie isn't meh really. 30 goal scorer in the AHL as a rookie, nothing wrong with that.

The rest of the hockey world knows what kind of players succeed in the playoffs.

He certainly doesn't succeed on the score sheet.  Under a 0.5 PPG player in the playoffs, so his offensive production takes a drop after the regular season.

Plus he's a diver.

Get with the times, Rager. Offensive production is irrelevant in the playoffs.

True. In the playoffs you win by holding your opposition down to 15 shots; not by scoring a bunch of goals in the second/third periods for come-back wins.

Especially seeing the playoffs right now, we can't afford to trade Greening, but alas, I could see it happening.

Who knows... I wouldn't trade Greening either in all honesty, maybe you move a guy like Condra along with Spezza... there is going to be a lot of turn over up front in the next 6 weeks.

Yeah, that I'd do. Maybe even add Condra + a little something to try to pry Sobotka out of there as well. If we get Berglund, Sobotka and Rattie, we're in good shape.

Also, seeing LA, Wiercioch shouldn't really be moving. They score a lot from the blueline and it clearly works.

Karlsson, Gryba, Wiercioch, Cowen, Ceci - all important pieces. If they get the right offer for Methot, he can go against my better judgement.

Interesting discussion involving one Daniel Friedman (@DFriedmanOnNYI -- followed by Elliotte, possibly related?):

Daniel Friedman ‏@DFriedmanOnNYI

You'd be hard-pressed to find the last team to win a Cup without a legitimate No. 1 center on the roster. It rarely (if ever) happens.

Chris Gatti ‏@cwgatti

@DFriedmanOnNYI Stasny will be a Ranger.

Daniel Friedman ‏@DFriedmanOnNYI

@cwgatti Either him, or maybe they trade for Thornton or Spezza.

Thornton likes California, would he even consider NY?  Spezza on Broadway?  Why not.
