Sens are not competing, you take the best deal you possibly can get for the player you are trading.  Hell, they might be lobbing a grenade in there too.  Perfect example, see Luongo/Schenider.

I didn't understand that post.  We're not competing for what?  A playoff spot?  We better be.

I understand the grenade comment, but what does that have to do with Luongo and Schneider?

Schneider wasn't dealt to Edmonton for a better deal nor was Luongo.  Both teams missed the playoffs but Vancouver is a total mess because they refused to deal in division on top of some other moves.

You make the best trade possible for your hockey team, simple as that.  It's not Crosby being traded, it's Spezza.

His contract is large, he under performed this year, and they can give the C to Kopitar or Doughty.
