If Murray read him the riot act then it was probably because he pushed Spezza out of town.

Not sure. Maybe over his whole approach this year vs last year... but if that is what pushed Spezza away, better to know that now than after a 7x7 or something...

Either way this whole season looks like it was Spezza & Murray vs MacLean based on everything I have heard.  I am glad MacLean won out.

Murray said Maclean was hard on some of the better players at the beginning of the year. Who else would that if not Spezza. Good riddance, loser.

MacLean never wanted Spezza as captain and obviously he pushed Spezza to the breaking point.  Murray would die by Spezza short of losing his own job and to me that's what it has come down to.  MacLean will soften his approach when he feels his leaders can carry some of his burden, Spezza didn't carry anything other than baggage.

My exact feelings.  Poor baby needs his bottle.  Winners can be pampered, losers need to be pushed and Spezza was pushed alright, right out the door.  Enjoy the western conference.

The team D is the issue, not the D core.  Not sure how many people (including the players themselves) need to be told this.  On that note, you watch Methot get traded straight up for Stewart.

Getting a forward for a stay at home D has no effect on the team defense for the most part.  Who's a better player and plays harder?  Boroweicki or Methot?  Tough to answer that question IMO.  Who's going to be making Andy MacDonald money in a year?  Easy answer.  Methot is an extremely overrated player in Ottawa.
