REDBLACKS

Nobody is talking about this mascot Dung? Big Joe Mufferaw is apparently offensive? I'm so sick of the losers in this city man. Ottawa is soft.

As a french-canadian, I'm disappointed. The only thing I would have changed would be to give the mascot a french name "Joe Montferrand", while keeping "Joe Mufferaw" for english-speaking fans and celebrate this historic figure while linking him to the team. Missed opportunity due to a knee-jerk reaction to a few protests.

Good PR move by the REDBLACKS to just change the name immediately and drop the issue. Not worth the hassle.

Of bigger concern is why do we have to say REDBLACKS in caps?

What the Diddle is a Mufferaw? And what the Diddle is a REDBLACK?

Big Joe Mufferaw is CELEBRATED, he is not being made fun of. The name is iconic apparently, even though I only heard of it last week.

The REDBLACKS started off so well - this move is terrible.

REDBLACKS is in caps because they want it to be lol

I agree with this too but I primarily feel that it's a missed opportunity.

This was a real dude that embodies the "Rough Rider" heritage.

I also agree with this sentiment. Also hate the red black name (dumbest name ever) but I'm intrigued to see how the redevelopment of Lansdowne area goes. This city needs to get more hip, and fast.

I would trade the Muff Eaters or whatever they're nicknamed for a AAA baseball team before you can say 'stupid name for a team'. Damn I wish we had gotten the Jays AAA team.

Also, clear out of Landsdowne please so it can be razed and the Sens can move into a new complex there.

This has got to be the stupidest start to a "new" franchise in the history of new franchises... in the entire world...

I'm regretting not complaining that the name red blacks is offensive to native Americans and black ppl....Diddle I could have saved the franchise from this terrible name

I'm more worried the stadium won't be ready in time. Exterior wise it's still looking like the same eyesore it was before

I'm a Jays fan too but there's no way u thought they were going to beat David price and the rays. Tampa has smoked the jays for 6-7 years now, and the Jays are normally a terrible road team. Good news is, there's still 161 billion more games to play
