Signing O'Reilly to an 8 year deal at 6.5-7 per is a risk.  If he injures himself and he can't be moved then what?  Either way we'll see but I could see the Sens throwing a huge offer at Roy and the Avs.

Roy isn't their gm lol

Yah I get that but I also think he has a ton of say doesn't he?

same for Anaheim. whoever was it that proposed Cogs and our 1st... that's a weak trade, there must be better out there.

Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy with Cogliano and a 1st for Spezza. Every team in the league will ahve concerns about his long-term health. Plus, he's only got one year left on his deal, so there's no guarantee he'll be around after next season. Plus, well...if they've watched him play this year.... It's not an issue of getting good return for Spezza, it's an issue of getting him off our team. Take the best offer this summer and just move on.

There is also the very real possibility Ottawa makes that trade and then perhaps goes out and signs a guy like Stastny and then the Sens are absolutely no worse for wear at that point.  I think the bigger move that will settle things down in Ottawa and in that room at this point is moving Anderson.  It will be more of a major trade but it will be enough to shake up the room and at least have the team and coaches focusing on one less thing.  Lehner is the #1, go with it, no questions, get a back up (Nabokov).

Yeah, there's tons of decent free agent goalies available every year for the backup role.

I think moving Spezza will have a more positive impact on the team than moving Anderson.

Could but I am 100% of the opinion that consistency in your goaltending will lead to consistency everywhere else or the start of it.  Knowing who your guy is no matter what is a big thing.

Spezza has to go 100%, no way this team will get anywhere with him.

I agree I just think the most pressing thing, short term to help this team turn around with or without Spezza is to move Anderson and make sure you have your sure fire #1.  There won't be a question tomorrow about who is starting.

Minny is the logical place for Anderson to land in the summer IMO.

yes, his official title is: Patrick Roy - Head Coach/Vice President of Hockey Operations
and if i remember correctly they can't move players or bring them in without consulting him about it. sakic has the same title but with executive tagged in front of it. i guess he gets the veto on it. basically as far as players on the team i guess roy is like a mini GM.

well Anderson lacking a NTC means anywhere is a landing spot for him this summer. i'd like go say long island(or brooklyn) is a landing spot for him but after the Vanek fiasco i'm not sure if snow will trade for a guy with one year remaining.

I'd like to think that between how Kuemper performs in the off season, a full offseason of harding figuring out his meds and backstrom getting into shape i doubt the wild will be looking for a goalie.

Vanek vs Anderson is a little different and there's only 30 starting jobs in the NHL.  Minny will be looking for a goalie, NYI, Calgary, Vancouver, maybe Buffalo.  Either way there is a market for Anderson even if it isn't that big but that's the 1 player IMO that you have to move.  Spezza you can kind of make arguments for keeping but Anderson, no chance.

I hope he doesn't go like Cheechoo after this. Same injury I think.

He's a warrior but why the heck didn't the sens force him to get surgery before when it became so apparent it was hindering him? And there was a 2.5 week break to boot for the Olympics.

Whatever, hope he recovers fully and like hoags said, he doesn't go cheechoo on us.

We all knew something was up, but it's a relief to see it officially. It explains the drop-off in performance. Poor bastard.
