I think he does. He has a blueprint for this team that's to be a 200 foot team that is hell to play against - Spezza is not that.

I guess if you put two big dudes with him, you can make it work, but do you even bother trying at this point - full well knowing that it doesn't make sense to re-sign him? I don't see it.

I'll believe it when I see it and it won't be at the deadline. Hell I would settle for a minor trade at this point.

Jason Spezza's agent confirms his client has not been asked to supply Senators with a list of teams to which he'd accept a trade.

I found it weird that during the Melnyk interview at the Heritage Classic, he stopped the interview and made a statement about hoping Bryan Murray were watching the interview on tv. This was in the midst of the reporter asking if he was a buyer and seller. Melnyk responded they were buyers and that Murray had full control of decision making.

Maybe this was the decision they were talking about?

I've never thought of Spezza from a Melnyk perspective. Big pay cheque, injured all of last year, +/- numbers stacked against him, regressing, no defensive game, bring in a high profile player to play with him and they don't click.... nor does he click with anyone else on the team (Ryan clicks with everyone), fan base doesn't really like him.... I can go on and on and list why Melnyk may not like him. Maybe he wants Spezza out?

So he doesn't have a full NTC? Either way he is not being traded at the deadline. That said this is starting to sound like the beginning of the end for Spezza in Ottawa, this is usually how it all starts, denial, denial, denial... then a bit of the truth, then the truth, then the trade.

Good trade deadline this year though. Even if the Sens don't make a trade it's been a pretty fun ride so far.

Exactly what I think it is. I don't know anything specific but it wouldn't be the first time he did it.

Listen, Melnyk hasn't once showed me he's an intelligent person. He's probably riding this wave with the fans and stands to gain the most from this.

No idea what's going on with Melnyk and won't pretend too. I just know he's a sociopath and complete a**hole.

If Spezza is moved before the deadline it's because he has demanded a trade.
