Great minds think alike. I like yours a little better.

We *really* need a "rimshot" icon.

I would say ONE of Lee or Zubov + 2nd and maybe some other prospect. If we take Gerber, the second becomes a first like I said before.

If I am Ottawa this year, I would give up Zubov + Gerber + 1 for Toskala. The Alfredsson window is closing...

I have no problem with that. Zubov isn't really necessary any more as Regin, Foligno, Smith, Winchester, Petersson and O'Brien can hopefully fill the offensive void behind Heatley and Spezza in the years to come. We have 2 1sts in the draft so losing one doesn't bother me, and obviously Toskala is a significant upgrade over Gerber.

Unfortunately, I doubt Fletcher is at all interested in making a deal trading away VeTo/Loss-Kala, especially to a division rival.

You think that's enough though? I think it's a definite first rounder and I think the Sens are forced to take Bell if they want to rid themselves of Gerber.

Almost the same trade as the Leafs originally made:

Toskala
Bell

for

Gerber
Zubov (pipe dream IMO, they'd want someone like Smith)
1st

Sens are like 500K below the cap (before they waive Bell).

Smith? Jason Smith? Are you saying the Leafs would want Jason Smith? I seriously doubt that.

I'd be ok with that trade.

We upgrade in goal, swap dud contracts, and essentially acquire a 'tender for a prospect and a pick.

Then again, when Huet was traded for nothing and Khabibulin could be had so cheaply, it is a relative overpayment.

Toskala has a better contract than either.
Toskala is a much better goalie, at this stage of his career, than either.

If Ottawa wanted Khabibulin, they would have him already. They can't take on that salary though.

I completely agree.

Toskala has a great contract and is an upgrade.

I suppose I'd support the proposed trade. What do you think of it Aetherial?

I hope he doesn't turn out to be another Hamel. High scoring in the minors, but too small for the NHL.

Whatever happened to that Tyler Donati (sp?) guy?

Work ethic was not good enough apparently.

Zack Smith went from 5'9" to 6'2" in 14 months. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that, so now he's gonna fill into his body and probably report to training camp at 210-215 next year (although I still think he's about ready to take the jump into NHL action by January).

Really?! I didn't know he was 6'2". I thought he was still small. This changes a LOT about my hopes for the guy.

oh Zach Smith will be called up REAL soon I think. He's hungry and from what I heard in regards to training camp, he'll make an impact for sure.

Freakin' Muckler. We could have had Toskala for Havlat (in his final year of his contract) but the b*stard didn't want to do the deal.

really? what did we end up getting for Havlat? Why didn't he make that deal? I guess at that time though Toskala was still an unknown....
