Nah, I just don't think Toronto makes it easy on us, it's not really up to us... We can ask, but Toronto has the final say... They don't care if this deal goes through or not...

Bell becomes a Sen because it takes the $$ off TOs books. We can waive him or whatever,but all TO cares about is getting rid of Dung and bringing in picks/young talent.

Elliot and Pogge would be a fun tandem for TO to have in years to come. And they'd lose some games and gain some experience in the process IMO.

Ottawa doesn't want to move Elliot and Zubov (and a 1st) for Toskala? Ottawa doesn't get Toskala then.

It's unfortunate, but TO has the ability to play hardball with anyone right now. They got rid of the true rubbish in the summer and now they have assets for a contender - sweet assets too.

Now...is all this moot anyway? Would Toskala waive his NTC to come to Ottawa?

Toskala doesn't have a NTC. Only three players as it stands have them:

Hagman (go Diddle figure) - NMC for 08-09
Kaberle - NTC
Kubina - Limited NTC (in full effect right now)

Agreed. I don't think they'd want to deal with us at all to be honest. Even if they want to finish last, they won't help us get better in the process. I say, no deal on their part at all. But, wow, would I love to have him....

Yeah I gotta agree with others here. That deal won't get it done. The Leafs gave up a 1st, 2nd 3rd (or 4th?) ... before anyone really knew if Toskala could be a starter. Now we do. He did pretty well with a HORRIBLE team in front of him.

In addition, the Leafs took Bell off SJ's hands. Regardless of what JFJ claims, they didn't want Bell.

With all due respect, your trade is terrible; not even close. Nikulin we don't want, and you don't want either. Gerber would be us doing you a favor. We have no use for him. San Jose's 1st rounder is more like a 2nd rounder.

I would say Zubov or Lee, and a second would be a fair start to the discussions. If you want us to take Gerber off your hands, that second becomes a first.... and we want yours; not san Jose's

The truth is I would LOVE to see this deal go down. I think it would be good for both teams.

I think you're bang on again Aetherial. One thing we both agree on is that a trade that emcompasses these pieces (give or take) would be fantastic for both teams. However, it's getting both Murray and Fletcher to agree on a price that could be tricky, but your insight seems dead-on to me. We would probably have to sacrifice our 1st...

Then our pick is just as high as San Jose's.. If that is what was holding up the trade, I guarentee Murray would gladly hand over our pick...

I'd hate to see Zubov go with Elliot. Both are considered NHL potential prospects (unlike Hennessy, trade him quick!!)

Maybe Nikulin and Elliot. Murray doesn't seem like the type to overpay.

As far as the picks, I agree with what you said 100%.
