Paul MacLean says Mika Zibanejad is here because of a minor injury to JG Pageau. Says he will be considered for the lineup tomorrow

Sounds like a little wear and tear on Pageau and players don't lose their spot based on injury (for the most part). Sounds like Zibanejad will have to impress to stay up.

You sure Pageau isn't tired?

It's all tied together. Tired, general soreness, small injury, w/e. It's based on him playing a ton of hockey.

Interesting. That's good news for us Pageau fans.

Also it obviously wasn't a "message" being sent to Pageau like some people have already said. Tired, knicked up, sore, w/e you wanna call it today. Guy needs a little time to heal like a lot of other guys have in the past.

The message is, if you're tired, your punishment is not playing, you nancy boy.

None of you guys are considering the possibility that, you know, MacLean says stuff?

Here's an example:

On day after the Edmonton game: I think they played great, their best game of the season.

The Sens had an off-day.

Next day's practice was an 83 minute hard skate, with some calling it a "bag skate". PMac did not look/sound happy at all.

Maybe the "best game" part was him talking about the Oilers?

They're all tired. The 2-1/2 minutes later they go at it again. I think this is a message to ZBad to not get too comfortable.

Perhaps him sitting wasn't the message, but him not playing in the 3rd period of two straight games was definitely a message that should be taken by Pageau loud and clear. Louder now that Z-Bad's up.

Don't forget that fact that the Sens are taking 200 mins a game in penalties and that's kills any chance MacLean has to roll lines consistently as they are basically in a special teams battle each and every single night. It's the whole team not just Pageau that needs to improve.

Either way, Pageau obviously needed to take a seat and him getting over a week off from game action isn't the worst thing in the world for him from a physical and mental stand point.

Nope, but there's always the chance that the call-up plays better and wins the spot. In that case, the opening was the result of the injury, but the player loses his spot because of the other's play.

Pageau won't be sent down because of injury, that's all I am saying. Maybe Zibanejad and Grant don't give up their spot from here on out and they force the Sens to end down Pageau or Kassian, could happen.

Send Kassian down to Elmira, please.

MacLean seems pretty stuck on improving him as a hockey player so I doubt it happens.

You never see the value in player like that until he's gone. Like I say over and over again, he doesn't hurt the team, plays a disciplined game. No reason to do anything more than not dress him from time to time.

He does hurt the team by taking up a roster spot.
