"Playing shape." Take a hike. His hand is hurt. He'll be able to do plenty of exercise and keep his cardio going.

Hopefully these guys are ready for the big ice. Should give the super stars more room to do their thing.

Third Olympic selection for:
 - Luongo
 - Nash

Turin, Vancouver and now Sochi.

Bouwmeester was part of the 2006 Turin team but not the 2010 Vancouver team due to sucking large that season.

I wouldn't call Finland a joke, especially with Rask in net.  Also have no idea how you can call the Czechs a joke.

Jagr and Nedved.  Jagr has been reduced to a PP specialist.  How is he going to do against 20 year olds on Olympic ice?  Nedved?  I didn't realize he was still skating.

Michalek hasn't been good this year.  At all.

Elias, Hemsky -- they'd be on Canada-3 team.

That, and Czechs left off vrbata and hudler, two experienced scorers.  Has anyone taken a look at finaland's D?  They got Rask, that's it.  Maybe he steals a game here and there but no way are they a threat.  Hope that answers tim's question. JOKE!

Now they may have a chance at bronze....I'd say czechs have a chance. I just don't see it for the finns. Especially with no Mikko Koivu

You have your Koivus mixed up.

Yeah, Mikko is on the team. Saku is not as he removed himself. I think that allowed Selanne to be on the team too.

IF Eric Staal was left off because of the not too good first part of the season... then the same should have been done to Rick Nash. I really don't give a damn what he has done in the past... it's about how he is playing now... and that's not as good as others left off the roster.
How in the heck Couture got left off the team is beyond me.. Nash 18 pts in 27 games with a plus/minus of -2. Logan Couture.. 34 pts in 43 games with plus/minus of +13. I know Couture is out 3-4 weeks... but so is Luongo injured and Stamkos...

Then the defense...Seabrook should definitely be there... 31 pts in 45 games with a plus/minus of +22. He is paired with Keith on Chicago's top pairing and has 2 Cups since the 2010 Olympics Gold medal. How he got left off in favour of Subban is beyond me..

Other than those 2 omissions looks okay to me.

This tournament is a sprint not a marathon... Chemistry within the team has to be almost immediate..

Nash is better than staal for the wing.

Seabrook is riding Keith's coattails this season

Gold medal, World Championships, he's a proven international star and is fantastic on big ice and is a natural winger where Canada isn't so deep.  Not only was this the right move there wasn't even a decision to be made.  Rick Nash was a lock before the season started, was a lock before he was injured, a lock during his injury, and a lock after it.  He was a lock since the last Olympics ended.  There's not even a discussion to be had.

If you are looking for the eyebrow raising pick IMO it is Carter. I don't really understand that at all especially over St.Louis.

Carter has won a cup,a. Gold medal, world junior, big playoff performer and can score the goals. Lots of room on the big ice to get his shot off. wouldn't have been my choice but I can get it

I understand it but he does not have a Gold.  Just simply pointing out that if there was an eyebrow to be raised it was that pick over St.Louis especially on the big ice where speed and hockey sense matter which St.Louis has over Carter is spades.

Speed is overrated. The game is slower than balls over there. But yes I would have picked St. Louis over him.

Thornton should be there, perfect big ice player, but no room at centre.

Sorry thing carter was with Richards in 2010 but he was just a reserve

Speed matters when the skill is as high as it will be at the Olympics. It's not the SEL where yah, speed is overrated and hockey sense is a lot more important... everyone playing has hockey sense for the most part. Either way, yah, Carter shouldn't be there in our opinions obviously.

Canada has never medaled on the big ice... hopefully this group can change that. Goals and goal tending... as usual...
