I still think he will, but if you want to crucify him for not doing it, that's your business.

I won't be mad if he never addresses the issue.  I think there was serious errors made on the side of Murray and Melnyk, but I think that Alfie is taking the high road and won't pin anything on the Sens organization.  This is just my own personal view.  I don't think the full truth will ever come out.  He was very clear in his public statement that it was a selfish decision.

I've moved on.  I think you should do the same.

Crucify? We are bitter. After 17 years in this city, getting married and raising a family here, being accepted into the community, with countless kids having a picture of him on the wall in their bedrooms -- after all that we would expect a token gesture at least like the one Mike Fisher showed after spending half as much time here. He may have a beef with the organization, but certainly not the city.

So, yeah, we are bitter, and we say "Just like any other athlete leaving for a better deal". And that equates to a crucifixion in your mind?

He has Alfie up on Mount Everest, he can do no wrong. A lot of people thought that mind you but again, he's just the same athlete as everyone else. Great player, HHOF worthy, Sens legend, but he left for a better deal at the end of the day just like a lot of other athletes do. Fact is he isn't a life time Sen and he shouldn't be treated as that anymore.

Apparently Mick Jagger is 70 today. Suddenly I don't feel so old.

What bothers me the most about alfie is what's been mentioned already: no address to the fans.  Not once.  Not even a damn tweet.  He changed his profile picture but hasn't had time to address the legions of fans he has/had.

you know if he made a quick trip to ottawa shortly after it happened, it would have definitely softened the blow and made him more respectable to address the city in person.  Maybe he just doesn't realize it, but he's foolish to not see how important that could have been.  He may still do it, but what's the point of it 3 months later when everyone has turned on him?

Also another thing that bothered me was Karlsson on twitter defending alfie and telling sens fans 'don't forget what he's done for the city'.  FUCK OFF Erik.  We have every damn reason to be pissed with him and the team for the way it happened.  The fans made him this 'god' in Ottawa, let him get away with murder (neidermeyer slap shot, 'probably not' statement), defended his honor.

How can you guys still be on this? I just don't understand. Disassociate yourselves from Alfie the 'Legend' and be thankful that we're one of the best up and coming teams in the entire league - and on that day, the fateful July 5th, we became a better team.

I wouldn't go so far as to say FO to Karlsson, and I have no problem with ex-teammates coming out with the generic "I respect his decision" statements. On the other hand I loved it when Vinny Prospal, when asked if they would welcome Yashin back in the dressing room basically said "NFW! The guy quit on the team and reneged on a contract he signed." Sadly, Prospal was traded soon after.

But I will take offense with someone telling me to not feel one way or another. I also didn't particularly like Karlsson's #lalala attitude when he tweeted about waiting for Alfredsson at the gym. Go ahead, work out with him. But do you really have to tweet about it?

How can you not? Until the puck is dropped and we have something else to talk about, this is all we've got!

How's about this to talk about.

Would you rather have Clark MacArthur and Bobby Ryan or Alfredsson, Noeson, Silfverberg, and a 1st.

I think it's time people got over Alfie the same way Alfie got over Sens fans. If he wanted to stay he would have stayed.

I'm not saying forget about the legacy he left behind. I'm saying remember him for who he was, not (allegedly) who he is now.

Pretty much this.  Besides, I'm mentioning facts.  As for karlsson, I'm just worried that he's seeing this and thinking along the lines of hossa/chara fiasco. make no mistake, this definitely was a fiasco and blunder by both the sens and alfie.

This was the quote:

It's that 'ppl who doubt alfie' part.  I get he's sticking up for his pal, but it also kinda feels like he's just labeling the fans as 'haters'.

Case and point.

While they discussed it was a potential, I couldn't see the Sens acquiring Ryan AND retaining Alfredsson and signing MacArthur.

Like most Sens fans, I won't boo him and I'll always appreciate the things he's done for the team and the city. It is, however, time to move on.

Nah, it would have been Ryan and Alfie. Alfie should have stayed, he would have been a big part of a Ryan - Spezza - Alfie - Karlsson - Wiercioch PP.

Check out this article posted yesterday in the Edmonton Journal:

http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2013/07/26/what-happens-if-ales-hemsky-is-untradeable/

Perhaps there is something there. I'd never trade Greening in this scenario but perhaps Smith and Stone make sense, with something (a 2nd?) coming back our way to compensate for the added salary.

Ryan-Spezza-Michalek
MacArthur-Turris-Hemsky
Conacher-Zibanejad-Condra
Greening-Pageau-Neil

That's a deadly roster pending everyone stays healthy.

I'd also welcome the addition of Grabovski (2nd line RW) but only if Ottawa packages up some players to acquire a top four d.
