Weircioch has played 3 months of NHL hockey, only a GM who wants to be fired would say that is a fair sample size to base a future contract on.wprager wrote:Oglethorpe wrote:I am dead serious. Weircioch has played a grand total of 50 NHL games and has no arbitration rights. Cowen has a whopping 90 NHL games and 3 AHL games and another 27 combined playoff games, which means he has a total of 120 professional games and people want to pay him 3.5M coming off his second major injury. I like the 2 guys, but people here act like John Ferguson JR. It's ridiculous. Let the system work for you, no arb rights and nothing proving as a pro yet earns you about 10% raise in my books. Let them cash in on their 3rd contracts.spader wrote:wprager wrote:Are you serious? Wiercioch's QO is $827K; Cowen made more than your "offer" on his ELC.
I'm sure he isn't serious. Cowen will get $2M+ without question.
If you want to turn this into an argument between $3.5M or anything approaching Hamonic, and $2.5M, then fine, let's do that, but you'll find that most of us no-longer think he will be getting that money. As you said, he's got no arbitration rights.
However you said give him $1.25M x 2. As for Wiercioch, I think you are way off base if you think he'd get a slight increase on his QO. 0.5 PPG rookie D-man on a team in the bottom five in the league in G/G.
