Cap hit is irrelevant, he made $810,000 in salary (and actually less than that because he was on AHL salary for 3+ months). The bonuses were performance-based, and judging how he barely played any games, I doubt he got any bonuses.

I am dead serious. Weircioch has played a grand total of 50 NHL games and has no arbitration rights. Cowen has a whopping 90 NHL games and 3 AHL games and another 27 combined playoff games, which means he has a total of 120 professional games and people want to pay him 3.5M coming off his second major injury. I like the 2 guys, but people here act like John Ferguson JR. It's ridiculous. Let the system work for you, no arb rights and nothing proving as a pro yet earns you about 10% raise in my books. Let them cash in on their 3rd contracts.

$2M isn't the same as $3.5M. Just saying. It's easy to defeat an argument that you exaggerate.

If you want to turn this into an argument between $3.5M or anything approaching Hamonic, and $2.5M, then fine, let's do that, but you'll find that most of us no-longer think he will be getting that money. As you said, he's got no arbitration rights.

However you said give him $1.25M x 2. As for Wiercioch, I think you are way off base if you think he'd get a slight increase on his QO. 0.5 PPG rookie D-man on a team in the bottom five in the league in G/G.

There are a few on this site saying sign him to a 7 year deal at 3.5M. Regardless, what has he done to earn a 2M contract? He has potential, but he has not accomplished anything yet.
