So he's a loser then. That's what that says. We would have been a better team this year, we would have added a top 6er, we probably would have added another D-man - either now, or via trade or at the deadline.

You don't come this far and then quit on a team because you were beaten in a playoff series.

Truthfully, a lot of people might not want to hear it, but he had AMPLE time to lead us to the promised land and we only got to the Finals once. Maybe it truly was/is time for a changing of the guard.

It's gonna take me a while to digest what happened today. I'm not sure how it leaves us. I hope Murray goes out with some great trades and makes Alfie regret it. Best case, we won the cup, second best case he wins the cup and looks the smarter for doing this.

But I hate the wings!!!

Won't happen in the division Detroit is in now. Everyone in their old division was built to beat the Red Wings, everyone in their new division is built to beat the Bruins... good luck with that Wings. They won't win the cup.

Think back a few years back -- the Sens were one of the top regular season teams, yet they got to the playoffs and fizzled. Back when they finally got rid of Martin there was a of talk about Alfie stepping down or moving on -- he was a lead-by-example guy but not the grab-you-by-the-collar guy and that's what it seemed the team needed. Frankly, you need both.

After the cap came in the Sens were a cap ceiling team, for the most part, and the team did not improve. One trip to the Finals, sure, but they were shown just how far they were from being true contenders.

So now the team is on a budget but -- guess what -- actually improving. Spending all that money on players rarely works.

For all we know, this event could actually serve to galvanize this team. Prove to their former leader that he was wrong about them.

yeah, i don't get it, I really don't.

Sens should be going after Grabovsky now... real hard. That's the player you want and if you can get him at a discount price all the better.
