Give it a couple of minutes' thought, though. Alfie was a great "lead-by-example guy. But few followed, and that's the truth. I'm convinced Melnyk did this to piss off the people of Ottawa because of his casino. It's exactly the type of person he is too. They best be thinking of a way to retain season ticket holders.

If that's why he did it, there's no way he would expect season ticket sales to go up. Makes no sense.

The city does not give a Dung about the Sens, this won't give him any leverage on the casino.

I thought I'd never say this but I'm proud of what the Leafs accomplished this off-season. They're team is going to be a nightmare to play against on a nightly basis.

The amount of money that Melnyk loses on jersey sales, fan attendance, and fan support - not to mention that NO ONE will give a dung about his letter re: Casino anymore.

It's no wonder this guy is one bad investment away from bankruptcy. This Alfie move is going to cost him more than just $6M a season - it may cost him all little credibility he had left as an owner and businessman.

Imagine for a short while that Alfie retired at the end of the season and we were all sad. Then we pick up McArthur. How would you have felt?
