Not straight up. I meant more so a 1st as a major trading piece. Sens really don't need it this year given organizational depth.

I think they make the moves necessary for Alfie to win a cup this season while not effecting their core too too much, or their prospect depth.

I can see Calgary wanting another 1st Rd pick. Maybe that's how they pry Cammi out of there. Or Giordano

Cammilarri is not worth a top 20 pick, lol.  31 year old making 7 mil, 6 mil cap hit, on the last year of his deal who requested a trade from his 3rd team now?  In what world?

Cammalleri and 22nd for 17th

Maybe this... probably worth it if the Sens are drafting around that same area.  The player they draft at 22 won't be much different than at 17.

He's past the point of no return there with his latest trade demands for sure. Problem is, he'd probably still have to play in the AHL, wouldn't he?

Maybe he is not happy in that organization and it shows in his play?

Who else is there?  Don't think we'll be pulling off any trade for an established scorer.  Really depends on what our scouts think of El Nino but he's a guy who's played in N. America for so long.  He's not another filatov

Maybe Nino can be had for something less than the 17th overall pick?

Probably. I think the NYI will field a bunch of offers that look about the same then deal him to the Western Conference.

Remember, dealing him to the Sens division (whatever it might be called) isn't a huge deal because of the new division format... makes trading a player a little easier without the worry of dealing him to someone who might bump you out of a playoff spot.

True but in the scenario where you're basically getting the same no matter where you deal him how does Ottawa fare ?

Who knows if we even do anything. I'm slightly nervous we don't get a forward, but I've learned not to doubt Murray....ever

maybe so but there's no kidding here, everybody expect a great player to land here. maybe the other Gm's get gready and we don't want to overpay. I think a bunch can happen that can nix a deal. then again maybe we'll just bring in Jagr....

Maybe Murray will trade the pick for another young player that is close to NHL ready -- or a player not happy where he is (a la Turris)?

If Murray thinks that Neiderreiter is "close to NHL ready" then he might be the guy.

I would love for murray to draft us a young forward with elite scoring potential, someone with huge upside offensively. Max domi sounds great and we might not have to move up too much for him, reminds me of some of the stuff i read about skinner years ago appart that this kid doesn't have a knock on his skating

. but i trust murray and co to do the right thing obviously.

Ready HF boards obviously and nothing they say should be taken seriously but may as well talk about it... Hemsky to Ottawa?  I actually heard from someone this could happen a while back and posted so interesting they are saying it happening in Edmonton too.

Wouldn't take a 5 mil cap hit, 5.5 meal real dollar contract for that guy straight up for anyone other than Kassian in Ottawa.  Smith or Greening sounds like the pieces they want back but they must be throwing in a pick/prospect/or a bigger deal than just that.  This could be a way Ottawa could land a 2nd rounder in this years draft, add a top 6 forward, and move some center depth.

Smith didn't have the best year last year and fact is his ever since he took that big shot in San Jose he hasn't done much of what made him successful.  In the playoffs he was almost invisible as well and what he should be bringing, well he isn't bringing.  Not to mention the fact Pageau did a better job up the middle than Smith did and could have very well replace his mins and spot in the lineup if he is the guy to move.
