Again, not that black and white either.  If they think he can come in and contribute next year at the NHL level why would you not make a deal for the kid?   LH shot, big, fast, has a scoring touch, everything is there for him to be a solid top 6 forward for a decade.

Yeah, no.  He's defensively challenged and plays a weak game.  No thanks unless he's really come a long way.  And there's no reason to suggest he had.

do you even know who we're talking about?

Maybe not. I thought we were talking about neidereider.

Yeah Nino Niederreiter, the gritty goal-scoring winger who plays a 200-foot game.

All I know is he's a power forward, Swiss, has had good international showings, and had a good year in the AHL with an all-star appearance... not sure if he's soft either as he does score some goals from in and around the crease, he can crash at the levels he has played because of a sheer size advantage but he has yet to show any kind of grit at the NHL level.

Not the best stat but he was on pace for over 200+ hits in his rookie year.

also note that the Isles' scorekeepers tend to overstate their hits

Yah but you don't want him hitting everything that moves even if it's a case of bad stats with/and him trying to prove himself.  He needs to be a poor Taylor Hall with the way he is built and plays the game.  I think he could be a fit for Ottawa but again, I have no idea what the character of the guy is like nor do I know exactly what his top upside is.  Could he be a 40 goal guy?  I dunno... maybe but probably not.  Is he a 20 goal guy every year?  Could be.  Is he going to be a complete NHL bust?  If he was I wouldn't fall off my seat.

I know why he was drafted where he was, what kind of game he needs to play to live up to that draft position and to be effective in the NHL.  If he's just going to go out there and prove he doesn't look out of place you can get that in the 3rd and 4th rounds without giving up anything of value from your organization already.

If his character is in question that should mean a cheaper asking price Wink SOLD!!!

Problem-child, soft, defensively-weak Niederreiter to Ottawa for a 6th round pick in 2015. make it happen murry

Asking for a trade 2 times from the organization isn't always a good thing but it's NYI and they have ruined more prospects than anyone else aside from Columbus.

I'm unsupportive on a Nino trade. Not based on character/skill but I think the Sens need to acquire a proven talent. Can't have all these guys as RFA's coming off their's ELCs at or near the same time.

I'd also vear away from the Briere bidding war unless his preference is to come here. Our goal should be to acquire top-end talent in the 25-30 year age range. I am totally supportive of dipping into our prospect pool as well.

Do you think the Sens actually select someone with their 1st? Given the amount of high-end prospects and depth in the system I think they'll trade their pick for a higher pick or a roster player.

I can see Calgary wanting another 1st Rd pick. Maybe that's how they pry Cammi out of there. Or Giordano

Cammilarri is not worth a top 20 pick, lol.  31 year old making 7 mil, 6 mil cap hit, on the last year of his deal who requested a trade from his 3rd team now?  In what world?

No idea who the Sens pick... not that I ever have a clue because I am always wrong.  I think most people thought when they drafted Zibanejad that it was a possibility.  Other than that didn't see the Rundblad thing coming, Ceci fell more than I thought, Noesen was a surprise, only one I ever got right was Lehner.

Great hockey being player right now but it is dragging on.

Cammalleri and 22nd for 17th

Not straight up. I meant more so a 1st as a major trading piece. Sens really don't need it this year given organizational depth.

I think they make the moves necessary for Alfie to win a cup this season while not effecting their core too too much, or their prospect depth.

Maybe this... probably worth it if the Sens are drafting around that same area.  The player they draft at 22 won't be much different than at 17.

He's past the point of no return there with his latest trade demands for sure. Problem is, he'd probably still have to play in the AHL, wouldn't he?

Maybe he is not happy in that organization and it shows in his play?
