I find both these tidbits uninteresting.

Well this is pretty much the NHL's wet dream. Only thing better would have been Detroi vs Chi in the conference finals as opposed to LA, but at least this gets americans coast to coast involved, so definite wet dream.

Ponder this though: Conf finals start June 1st. Give 2 weeks per round and you're looking at stanley cup finals ending between June 27th-29th. And the draft is on the 30th.

Way to go schedule makers Facepalm

There's not much that could've been done about the schedule. With arena bookings, etc, there's only so much that can be done. I think it's pretty awesome...Finals, and then right into the draft, and then right into free agency...no down time. It's great!

I'm not going to start looking into venue bookings, but just remembering the sens/pens series and the amount of days in between, it was highly unnecessary. The venues for both ottawa and pittsburgh had ample space on them to get that series started quickly.

The MTL/OTT series of 5 games took a grand total of 8 days. The PIT/OTT series of 5 games took a grand total of 11 days. Just my point that round 2 took a little too long to finish. Now looking at the schedule they seem to be rushing the games again like round 1.

Looks like their goal is to get Stanley Cup finals started weekend of June 14th.

So what is your problem with the schedule...that hockey will go on too long?

I like both predictions, but I'll say Hawks in 7.

I don't have a problem per say. I think it's stupid and irrational to cut it so close to the draft. The sheer risk of going past June 30th should have been enough to hurry up the rounds. What you got now is really ridiculous scheduling. Explain the logic in starting both series on the same day or the fact PIT/BOS will have been off for 8 days before they play each other, and then you're forced to mix in back to back games.

Basically I'm opposed to back to back games for any series in the playoffs. Nothing to do with hockey going on too long, its merely unbalanced scheduling and instead of giving yourself some buffer between the draft, you're cutting it really close now. Looks like they'll save themselves but still, they could have done a much better job with the scheduling.

It's hard to imagine the Kings/Hawks series NOT going 7 games. Every game will probably be decided in triple OT.

The Pens/Bruins series could go numerous ways, but I'll say Pitt in 5.

I think they nailed the scheduling for the coming round. No nights without hockey, and a doubleheader on Saturday to kick it off. How is that not awesome?

Also, if the Finals wrap up right before the draft, then, as I mentioned before, there's no downtime for hockey-related happenings!

Explain to me why we need a buffer between the finals and the draft.

If both series go to 7 games, they end on June 12th.

If it goes that far, the Stanley Cup Final would likely start on Sat. June 15th and end up around the 27th.

Love the back to back SCF, Entry Draft and then Free Agency. BRING ON THE MADNESS!!!!

Wish it could be like this all year round...

And all it took was a lockout and a 48-game compressed schedule. They should do that every year Sarcasm
