Nono, they basically kicked Chara out the door.

If any team offers a young potential top 6 Bruiser I'd do it in a heartbeat, because Montreal and Toronto don't have that kind of player.

Certainly if the offer is right, you look at it, but IMO you don't rush to make any kind of move back there.

No, I agree, but I think our left side D situation is pretty comparable to our goaltending situation 1 month ago...i.e., we have more really good players at that one position than we can play, and it makes sense to start thinking about moving that excess for help in other areas... and our right side D has been a weak spot for about 1 calendar year right now.

The right side of the blueline IMO is solved now. They have Karlsson obviously and with Gryba showing what he has to this point, you can move guys around on that #3 pairing with Phillips.

I don't think people realize just how important or potentially important Gryba is to the long term success of the Sens. Him and Cowen as a pair could be deadly over a 7 game series.

For those reason, IMO Gonchar isn't resigned and they go with Wiercioch and Benoit as their #6, 7 guys next year with Borowiecki being the first callup.

Truth be told, the real silver lining in the Karlsson injury has been Gryba. If Karlsson doesn't injure himself then Gryba doesn't get the shot he has. If Karlsson regains his form which I think everyone thinks he will, then his injury over the long term may have been exactly what the Sens needed to really figure out where they are in terms of their place with the rest of the league.

Everyone knows the Sens are going to be a force for years.

Number 1 goalie, force down the middle and a solid mobile tough 4D. The rest, don't really care.

That's only if you can play Wiercioch or Phillips on the right side permanently and not suffer because of it. Otherwise there's still a hole on the right side for a year or two.

That said...I assume we're about to see Ceci in Bingo this year to assess where he's at and what he needs to work on for Richardson. His year is over in the OHL.

Puempel too. Will go a long way in showing the Murrays and Richardson and Mac where these guys are in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe even Ceci if the callup is for the right side. I'd love to see what Ceci brows into after spending a few months with Richardson (including this year's playoff run -- even if he only practices with the team).

We're not a force down the middle, not even close. With a healthy Spezza, sure, but not now.

Unless injuries hit hard Ceci won't be seeing the NHL for a little bit, also depends on who goes down but as you have seen this year, things change on a dime.

Borowiecki and Claeson are probably the next 2 guys to get a look, Wideman is close to being a guy everyone talks about, and then Ceci. No reason to rush him because they could turn him into a very, very good hockey player who plays a big role for a decade in Ottawa.

Spezza was supposed to be back a few weeks ago. What if he's suffered a relapse? What if he'll be having another surgery? Can he resume being a PPG #1 center? We certainly saw that Turris is not ready to be a 1LC (frankly, I don't think he ever will be), and Zibanejad is only a few weeks removed from being run out of town back to Bingo by some of you here. He's *not* a 1LC yet.

I think if senators are willing to part with Weircioch, the piece to target then is Dan Boyle in San Jose. Don't think it would take much more than Weircioch and another piece.

Two of my least favorite prospects in terms of how I see them panning out. I watched a ton of Ceci with the 67's over the years and he always left me wanting more from him.

Seems like a Leaf move to me. I like the way the Murray's have been playing it, trading youth for youth. If San Jose wants to move Boyle and he decides he wants to play here, then we should sign Cheechoo and force him down San Jose's throat.
