I think we'll see Turris on the top line, with Regin on the 2nd.

All hail Matrix

Time for TheTenderOne to get it going.

Last game I remember against Carolina was when the Sens just got back from the funeral and Staal embarrassed them. I realize they've played them since then, so this is primarily an indictment about how boring and forgettable Carolina games usually are. I hope that the Sens players didn't forget. DIFD "Power to the Purple" challenge starts today.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Bishop get the start tonight... logical game for him to start to be honest. Away from home, game on Sunday afternoon for Anderson, been a week since his last start. Def need to get him into a game again.

That said, Anderson has been lights out and if he starts then w/e. He will get the game on Sunday for sure. Maybe you come back with Bishop on Tues against the Sabres at home.

Yeah, Bishop will need a game here sooner rather than later. Tonight would make sense, but then PMac will get railed (if they lose) for not riding the hot goaltender. Not that PMac really cares what's said/written about him though.

There's also a possiblity Bishop may not get in the net again until Feb 7th, when we play Carolina at home.

I think next week on the back to back is the ideal time to start him. Carolina would be the game I would imagine he is put in for as well. He will get 7 games no problem this year.

Yeah, if you don't start him tonight, then it's Montreal away and Buffalo at home as the next two games. So might as well give him an easier game, tonight.

Not sure what you meant about next week back-to-back. The next back-to-back is Feb. 12/13 against Buffalo at home, then Pittsburgh on the road. I'd say play Bishop on the 12th (Buffalo) so Anderson is well-rested for the Pittsburgh game.

Or even bring up Lehner so that Andy can get a complete night off, maybe even travel to Pittsburgh early.

Nah, leave Lehner where he is. If there is one thing he doesn't need it's the instability of not knowing where you will be tomorrow. Not fair to the player or to two teams.

I thought next week was a back to back... apparently not. I would still start Bishop at home against Carolina if it was my call.

To get his 7 games in, he'll need to play ever 7th game pretty much.

I think PMac sticks with Andy. Hot hand, ride that mofo.

They skate at 11:30am today... should know soon after that.

Yah, you gotta ride him a bit and hopefully the Sens can add to their point totals because of it. If they win 2 of the next 3, you start Bishop against Carolina IMO.

So, one way or another, Bishop will start against Carolina. Glad we have settled on that Smile

Did you hear Simpson on Team 1200 saying how he thinks 6'6" is too tall for goalies? How 6'3" is about as tall as you want your goalie to get before things get awkward. Hmm, not sure about that. Yes, Bishop looked awkward, and he *did* injure himself last year because he couldn't get his legs tucked under properly. But I've seen short goalies look awkward, too, especially when nerves and rust combine. And there isn't a goalie size or shape that is immune from injuries with the butterfly style.

Hmm, Dryden was 6'4". He was pretty good. Of course he didn't play the butterfly style.

I kind of agree with Simpson here. 6'3, 6'4 and you are big enough to cover a lot of the net but also agile enough to get up and down and side to side quickly. When you get into the big tall goaltender that are always playing in the butterfly they are just hoping the puck hits them, there's no real reaction and they depend 100% on their positioning. If the first shot isn't sucked up or deflected away then they are in trouble.

It's also takes a split second longer to get up and down for them and as hard as the guys in the NHL shoot the puck it's a ton more time.

There's a reason why the best guys in the league are all around the 6'2 mark give or take. That's also the average height of a goaltender.

Mendes: Dan Ellis was the first goalie off the ice for the Hurricanes today. Cam Ward still on the ice taking shots.
