Ian Mendes ‏@ian_mendes 1m
Erik Karlsson is taking a defensive shift with Marc Methot to start practice -- a sign that he's closer to a return this week.

Bruce Garrioch ‏@SunGarrioch 1m
Karlsson takaing a regular shift with Methot. Would appear he makes his return tomorrow. #sens

Our new-look lines:

Conacher-Turris-Michalek
Greening-Smith-Alfredsson
Condra-Zibanejad-Silfverberg
Latendresse-Pageau-Neil

That 2nd line is horrible. Blah. :crossarms:
again alfie expected to carry the weight

I guess...he doesn't stand a chance with those two though. At least try a line of Alfie on the left side centered by Z-Bad and flanked by Silf (who I still seriously think could use a game off to recharge a bit).

Michalek is our best forward right now, him on a line with Z-Bad and Alfie would be interesting. So many combos....and he comes up with that one? Whatever I guess, defer to the Jack Adams nominee every time.

He's in tomorrow and will probably get 20 mins or so... Sat I would expect a little more, Sunday a little more, playoffs... 25 a night.

Smith played his best hockey of the year with Alfi and actually did something... not a bad options and it spreads out the scoring a little more.

Yeah, sounds about right. Maybe less than 20, more like 17, but that's just 2 less shifts and 1 less PK shift.

Yeah...I can't shake the feeling that Smith is useless this year. Whether he comes to camp with that same snarl and drive he had last year is a whole other thing, but right now he's not doing much - and putting Alfie with him won't likely change that.

I'd love to be wrong though.

It won't be worse than anything else we've put out there lately. We needed to shuffle things up from top to bottom. I think Greening is well-suited to play with The Alfie...it's just tough to know what to expect from Smith.

Smith has been largely fine this year. Good defensively and our best faceoff guy with Spezza out.

He just hasn't produced but I bet if this was an 82-game season he'd hit closer to what he did last year.

I think Karlsson could have played against the Pens, but they probably didn't want the circus that they got anyway. Now we just have to win tomorrow to clinch, then sit Alife, Gonchar, Silfverberg (call up Stone and Hoffman).

And what's happening to Spezza?

I doubt we'll sit them, we need to do all we can to not finish 8th. Hoffman is still hurt anyway.

Spezza is probably done for the year, if he can come back it will deep in the playoffs where we are unlikely to make it.

Whatever they gave Karlsson they need to give it to Spezza, steroids, HGH whatever Laughing3

Forget Spezza he's not coming back even if we get to the finals.

I wonder why we haven't put Latendresse back with the Swedish Sens mafia. That line was pretty good.

It seems Latendresse has 1 foot in MacLean's doghouse for some reason.

Probably because he's sow and won't be back next year

Nothing that a kid out of Bingo could have done just as well if not better. He wins faceoffs and occasionally hits when he feels like it - otherwise I'm very, very disappointed in his year this year. Give him the benefit of the doubt I guess, technically a sophomore year and the first year after a new contract, but man...not great at all.

Whenever he and Neil step on the ice lately, I just wait until their shifts end so someone can come on who resembles something offensively.

I think I'd rather have Pageau than Smith at this exact moment if I was to pick one of the two.

Yeah, he's too slow for Mac's system. Damn shame, he looked good for long spurts IMO.

It's still a possibility that the Leafs win the Division. True.

More likely, though, the Habs finally win one against the dejected Jets (their game starts an hour later than the Sens/Caps game, so they could be eliminated before they start the third).
Would love to see the Leafs lose out and have everyone else move up, landing them in 8th to face Pitt. Heh heh.
