Borocop named B-Sens captain.

Edit: I guess he can now be @BoroCaptain

O'Rourke was way at the goal line. It may have appeared to him that Regin put his on the puck but did he consult the other officials who were closer ? He was in no position to make that call 100% from where he was.

Come to think of it, has anyone seen a ref blow the whistle, consult the other officials and change his mind and make no call on the play ? Because it seems once the whistle is blown the official's mind is made up.

They do it all the time on puck over glass calls, but in those cases the whistle is blown for the puck being out of play and not for the penalty call -- that is always determined *after*. In this case the only reason for stopping the play is for the call.

By the way, NEELY was the only one who disagreed with me earlier on about the new rule. I thought it was stupid but he said that it was necessary because people were taking advantage of it. But how is it taking advantage if both centers can do it? You could allow it in the defensive zone and call a gloved-ahead pass in the offensive zone if you wanted, and in that case also penalize the team by tossing the center on the repeated face off.

In consistencies abound:

Shoot the puck down ice to ease up the pressure and it's icing, faceoff and no subs. Shoot it over the glass and it's 2 minutes. Shoot it *off* the glass and it's a regular stoppage (and you can have subs). Shoot it into the bench and, again, no penalty.

At what point after the puck is dropped for a face off does it become a gloved ahead pass and not a faceoff interference infraction? And if touching the puck with your glove is deemed interference, why not do the same for all of the other forms of interference that happen, routinely, during a face off (hooking the guy's stick, turning around and sticking your butt into his face -- sometimes beating the puck dropping to the ice, etc.)

Clearly, this is a rule to create more powerplays to get more goals. But the goalies can wear oversized equipment all they want.

Wow. That's an interesting one. Would not have placed my money at the start of the season on him getting a call up.

I hope this doesn't mean Zibanejad has a concussion from last night, or someone else is injured for that matter.

14. That's what Yzerman and Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray had in common with this deal -- they wanted to be out front. ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reported that Yzerman asked the Kings about Bernier, but here's betting the price was super steep. Ottawa initially beat Tampa to Bishop when St. Louis Blues traded him in 2012. Ottawa needed immediate offensive help and it's believed the only other NHL-ready player offered was Ryan Jones of the Edmonton Oilers. Cory Conacher is a better scorer.

15. There was some surprise Murray would trade Bishop to one of next season's divisional opponents. It sounds like he did it for three reasons: first, Tampa made the best offer. Second, Murray knew Bishop and Yzerman had a bit of a relationship. When he traded Mike Fisher and Chris Kelly, it was to places he knew they'd be happy. If you treat the organization right, Murray believes the organization should treat you right. Finally, when you believe you have two better goalies, you should be fine in the long-term, even though Bishop beat Ottawa Tuesday night.

Man, I'm such a fan of the way he does business.

It just means that Regin and Kassian are plugs.

Ah forgot there is no more 23 man roster limit now, I thought someone would have to go on the IR first.

Why Pageau? I understand size isn't everything but this is another small player. Is he going to replace someone in the top 9 or the bottom three?

If the 2nd place Habs can have more than 2 small players, so can we. half of our big players are useless right now.

Reward for playing well recently? Just guessing... have not been following Bingo lately... who's hot these days? Normally I'd expect a Da Costa, Prince, Schneider or Stone called up...

Like I said, size isn't everything, but does Zibanejad have a plug stick an elbow in his face, or give him a late shove into the boards if he's got someone riding on his wing beside Conacher? *Especially* now that the PP is in the toilet, teams are not afraid of taking chance (especially-er with O'Rourke behind the whistle).

I hope Pageau has the wheels and will to make a difference. I'm not against smaller players as a rule, it's just that liberties are being taken against this team and a 5'8" 160 lbs forward is not going to do much about it.

liberties wouldn't be taken if Smith and Neil were doing their jobs. Zibanejad was the only forechecker while his linemates were changing that's why nobody did anything. Not because Conacher is small. The little guy is not afraid of sticking up for his linemates.

Ultimately, if we score enough goals, nobody would be talking about it.

Smith isn't a fighter or enforcer. I never got the feeling he likes to do it nor is it his role on the team, I don't think they want him in the box for 5 either. He fought to get himself noticed and earn a spot on the team but I never got the impression he will be doing that in his NHL career with any regularity. When is the last time he fought, seems like forever. He is more of an agitator.

Neil doesn't seem to want to fight. He seems happiest when a Carkner, Konopka or Kassian are on the roster and handle that part. He'd rather hit and play hockey. I get the feeling he really doesn't want to fight anymore, maybe all the concussion scares have put him off.

I don't think anyone needs to fight. When I talked about their jobs, I was more thinking about being more physical and intimidating and being more of a pest.
