Sens have one of the lowest ROWs among contending East teams... gotta be careful if a tie breaker is needed...

Yeah good point. Need 2 victories minimum on this trip and with only 3 games to go, I don't like their chances.

Erik Karlsson should be back in Senators line up between 3 to 4 weeks if rehab goes well. #RDS

Ahhhhh!

I'd be surprised it takes that long.

We should have a poll/pool as to when Karlsson is back. We should also have one for how long Michalek will be in the lineup before he's back on the IR. Facepalm

East games tonight:
- Leafs/Rags
- Bruins/Devils

Regulation wins by Leafs and Bruins would help the Sens. Makes me sick to say that, but it is what it is.

Erik Karlsson wasn't on the ice today in Ottawa. Don't expect him to skate again this week. #Sens

So is this something to worry about or not ?

I would say not... probably wanting to see how his body responds to a workout. All part of the rehab I suspect.

Agreed. He isn't going to go from not skating to skating every day. No reason for concern.

C'mon Ref looks at Regin's faceoff violation...

http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/kerry_fraser/?id=420395

Conclusion: visual impairment resulted in faulty judgment.

Suggests they consult the ref that was dropping the puck to confirm... as he would have a better view.

My suggestion would have been that visually impaired referees not be allowed to work as referees.

Borocop named B-Sens captain.

Edit: I guess he can now be @BoroCaptain

O'Rourke was way at the goal line. It may have appeared to him that Regin put his on the puck but did he consult the other officials who were closer ? He was in no position to make that call 100% from where he was.

Come to think of it, has anyone seen a ref blow the whistle, consult the other officials and change his mind and make no call on the play ? Because it seems once the whistle is blown the official's mind is made up.

They do it all the time on puck over glass calls, but in those cases the whistle is blown for the puck being out of play and not for the penalty call -- that is always determined *after*. In this case the only reason for stopping the play is for the call.

By the way, NEELY was the only one who disagreed with me earlier on about the new rule. I thought it was stupid but he said that it was necessary because people were taking advantage of it. But how is it taking advantage if both centers can do it? You could allow it in the defensive zone and call a gloved-ahead pass in the offensive zone if you wanted, and in that case also penalize the team by tossing the center on the repeated face off.

In consistencies abound:

Shoot the puck down ice to ease up the pressure and it's icing, faceoff and no subs. Shoot it over the glass and it's 2 minutes. Shoot it *off* the glass and it's a regular stoppage (and you can have subs). Shoot it into the bench and, again, no penalty.

At what point after the puck is dropped for a face off does it become a gloved ahead pass and not a faceoff interference infraction? And if touching the puck with your glove is deemed interference, why not do the same for all of the other forms of interference that happen, routinely, during a face off (hooking the guy's stick, turning around and sticking your butt into his face -- sometimes beating the puck dropping to the ice, etc.)

Clearly, this is a rule to create more powerplays to get more goals. But the goalies can wear oversized equipment all they want.
