Why? If they're willing to spend, they could certainly add Perry.

How much are they willing to spend though ?
Dunno, but if they're gonna spend, they could easily have both.

I wouldn't really call it a "hit on Lehner."

What the hell did Lehner mean that he couldn't remember much when he was talking to Mendes? Is he actually Cussed up from that hit?

Silfverberg is really amazing, full stop. A year ago, when OTT threw him into game 6, he looked small, timid, out of place, and I thought 'too soon'. But now, he looks really good, really comfortable -- plays a hard 200-foot game. That is an unstoppable wrist shot right now.

Zibanejad has also 180'd his season, to be fair. I love how both guys hit, initiating contact. Z is especially hard on the forecheck lately.

Also, full disclosure, I thought OTT would spend the next 35 games in its own end after Karlsson went down. If we're a playoff team with out top 2 forwards, our top 2 D, and our top goalie... what are we with all those elements added back in?

I could get on board with that.

Karlsson, Zibanejad and Silfverberg have the EXACT same stats including plus / minus (except Zibby who is +5 the other 2 are +6)

He''s like Alfi on defense, can get by just by out thinking the other team. The guy is a difference maker and his experience is and could still be valuable next season. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't extend him if they truly want to make a run next year.

You can forget about Perry in that case.

Umm, because Gonchar will put them over the top for a season? lol.

There is just no way this team isn't a cup contender going into next year... but they need a top line winger, they need Perry. That's the piece that would turn them from a really go team to a great team and I think everyone in the entire city, including management knows this.

They are a good team now, they will be a better team when Spezza comes back, a really good team when Karlsson has healed, and a great team if Perry comes to town. Melnyk will make that money back 10 fold if them make a few playoff runs.

Feels good to wake up on a Monday with 4 out 4 pts in the bank from the weekend. That win against the Jets was especially great.

I'll say it again, Silf reminds me of The Alfie. Complete game.

Wiercioch, Silf, and Z-Bad are 12, 16, and 17 in rookie scoring. It wouldn't surprise me if one of them wound up in the Calder running...there's a lot of ground to be made up, but it could happen if the Sens ride this hot streak and those three keep getting points.

Wiercioch is tied for 3rd in goals and points among D-rookies (ironically, he's also 3rd in PIMs in that grouping, one ahead of Korbinian Holzer). If he continues this hot streak he could well move into contention, but he's not there yet.

By the way, Karlsson's 1st season he was (projected to 82 games played) on a 7G/35 pts pace; Wiercioch is 13/36. Not too shabby.

And in case anyone is wondering how Karlsson's injury has affected Wiercioch, in the 13 games since the Pittsburgh game Wiercioch is on a 25-goal/44 point pace.

I didn't realize this, given how strong I thought the West was compared to the East, but the Sens are sitting 6th *overall* (I thought 5th in the East would put them substantially lower in the overall standings).

MacLean should be a lock for the Adams.

Hey, you just reworded a Mendes tweet! But yeah, given what MacLean has done, the Jack Adams should be his.

Pretty much everyone in the world expected us to be battling for a lottery spot after Karlsson went down. Given our ridiculous over-achievement, you can't NOT give him the Jack Adams.

And people said we only made the playoffs last year because Spezza and EK had career years.

I don't know who said that, but MacLean was given plenty of credit last year too.

Sens are proving to be exactly what a lot of people in Ottawa said they would be, a team that has top end talent, top end goaltending, and tons of depth. Didn't know they were this deep though.
