And people said we only made the playoffs last year because Spezza and EK had career years.

I don't know who said that, but MacLean was given plenty of credit last year too.

Sens are proving to be exactly what a lot of people in Ottawa said they would be, a team that has top end talent, top end goaltending, and tons of depth. Didn't know they were this deep though.

I'll say it again, Silf reminds me of The Alfie. Complete game.

Wiercioch, Silf, and Z-Bad are 12, 16, and 17 in rookie scoring. It wouldn't surprise me if one of them wound up in the Calder running...there's a lot of ground to be made up, but it could happen if the Sens ride this hot streak and those three keep getting points.

I didn't realize this, given how strong I thought the West was compared to the East, but the Sens are sitting 6th *overall* (I thought 5th in the East would put them substantially lower in the overall standings).

MacLean should be a lock for the Adams.

Hey, you just reworded a Mendes tweet! But yeah, given what MacLean has done, the Jack Adams should be his.

Pretty much everyone in the world expected us to be battling for a lottery spot after Karlsson went down. Given our ridiculous over-achievement, you can't NOT give him the Jack Adams.

Again,

I'm not saying BB is gonna get it, but he sure makes it difficult to call anyone a lock.

Our prospect development doesn't get enough mention, sure we draft well but Randy Lee & co. do a great job of ensuring these guys reach their potential or exceed it.

With all our injuries a bunch of these guys have stepped in and blossomed.

We're soon going to have the problem that we don't have the roster spots for people that deserve them.

I hope we don't do what the Rangers did, is trade a bunch of supposedly "replaceable" players for 1 good player but suddenly find those players weren't so irreplaceable.

All things equal, coaches who have healthy teams should get bumped down a notch.

MacLean is pushing a bunch of kids into a playoff spot. A team without its #1 centre, #1 winger, #1 goalie, 2 top-4 D-men for most of the season.

You removed the guys without much character if need be. Regin comes to mind. Those are the guys that can be replaced. Daugavins might be a tough call because he's well liked and does his job without much complaining, he's a character guy. Outside of that... tough call on what will happen going forward.

I think Regin is done, PMac said something about his lack of "compete level"
Daugavins is done as well, the shootout seems his only distinguising skill, Carkner was well liked as well and he is gone so that won't stop them.

When Spezza comes back who comes out ? It would be Z but do you really send him down ?
If we sign Perry that will lock up another roster spot on RW.

Latendresse is playin really well too, doesn't seem a coincidence that Turris' line is suddenly scoring with him back. Hard to say given his concussion history but he goes to the net every time and he is big. You can see his talent as well. If he could stay healthy for a long time he could cause some serious damage.

I'm not sure will see Latendresse back next year...depends on how the rest of this season goes.

As for "who comes out", it certainly won't be Zibanejad! Can't even suggest that at this point..Z-Bad is really playing well lately...it'll be Kassian/O'Brien/Regin that get time cut.

Kassian and Regin out, if Spezza and Michalek come back. PRetty easy decision

personally I think you have to add Z to the list of players we will not be trading. the kid is proving that he should be kept as part of the developing core. I, like many others, thought he might end up being a 3rd line center but this kid can be slid anywhere inside the top 3 lines and perform. you cannot let go of that.
assuming we could land Perry thru FA then there isn't the need really for a trade to be made. the only way i could see any trade is if someone goes down with an injury next year. say someone like michalek. and then we'd really be looking at trading a guy like Pumpel +.
I can't wait to see if Noeson makes this team next year. maybe ends up on the 3rd line.

Next year is sick in terms of what this team wil look like
forwards
Michalek, spezza, Perry
Silf, Turris, Alfie
Noeson, Z smith, Zib
daug, JOB, neil.
and then we have a few extra kids from bingo that could easily slide in and i'd actually consider bringing latendresse back if he can continue the way he has. just an alright guy to have around in case of injuries.

defense is ridiculous as well
we might look to add a RH d-man thru trade, someone with experience and plenty of skill to play the second pairing

Looks a lot less critical now that he has been diagnosed with migrains, it was concussion issues, it was a health problem. If those are undercontrol Latendresse is going to be a big time contributor in the future in the Sens top 6. He is a really solid player.

Daugavins, tough call but you can probably put a more well rounder player in his position but at the same time how many guys are built for that #12, 13 forward? DD maybe, seems like that kind of player. You don't want your younger guys in that position too much. Kassian probably stole that job to be honest.

Zibanejad isn't getting sent back, neither is Gryba, Silfverberg, Benoit, or Wiercioch. I have a hard time believing Lehner will be sent back at this point but that's exactly what could happen.

Yeah, you know the Murrays won't trade Z-Bad unless it's for something like a signed Perry. The Murrays love making themselves look smart through developing their own prospects, and Z-Bad is a prime example of that.

Silf at this point is pretty much untouchable, along with Lehner. So when a trade does get made eventually (next year?) to bolster the lineup for a playoff run, it'll likely be guys like Puempel, Stone, Prince, etc that get shopped.

I think(hope) they resign Condra, fantastic penalty killer. He gets too much hate for missing open nets and the like.
Daug will be gone

For D:
Methot EK
Cowen Gryba
Philips/Wier Benoit

I think Latendresse is coming back, the results speak for themselves and the risk that the Sens took was to see if he could get things back on track and that's exactly what has happened IMO. He has a ton of chemistry with Turris and his return has gotten Turris going. If the injuries are behind him and he's comfortable in the Sens system, it's laughable what has just happened. LAtendresse is a good player and someone like Greening will be moved out before Latendresse simply because Greening may have priced himself out of Ottawa hitting UFA status after next year.

Your lineup lacks Greening and Condra, both of whom I see returning.

Condra will be resigned for sure, can't see him going anywhere. He's a staple on the 4th line and does so many things well, he's only going to get better.

The guy who may be part of a package deal with Bishop to land a big fish would be Greening. UFA at the end of next year, due for a big raise, and has limited upside. I wouldn't screw around with the chemistry too much right now but that's a piece that could be moved simply because he may be too expensive to resign as a 3rd line guy.
