Not sure I believe this... but the Blue Jackets blogger on HockeyBuzz says that Brassard is available. He was a 6th overall pick I believe -- and from Gatineau.. We all know how Murray likes the local guys and this kid could fit in well with the Sens...

The Jackets GM Kekalinan (sp?) reportedly likes Bishop as he drafted him.

So what would it take to add to Bishop to get Brassard in Ottawa. Young and skilled.. and would be properly developed in Ottawa...

Wierioch or Cowen, same usual suspects

Wouldn't give up much more than Bishop and a prospect for Brassard to be honest. The Sens are rolling and even though he would be a very nice fit, he's not a guarantee.

In terms of the missing piece up front in Ottawa I'm not sure a Matt Read or a Derek Brassard is actually going to solve a whole lot. The reason Perry would have been such a great fit is because of the way he scores goals and the way he plays the game.

Perry has that "it" factor, a guy that plays the game hard and just doesn't care but he also does it with a ton of skill. The closest the Sens have to that is Noesen and I think a lot of people are hoping he turns out a lot sooner than later.

The Sens have never had that tough as nails power forward, if they make a move it should be for someone of that ilk. Wayne Simmonds comes to mind in that aspect.

There's a lot of guys that would slip int Otttawa's top 6 and be a great fit but they really should be going after the right player not just a player they can get.

Something seems to be missing with Wayne Simmonds, might be the hands, he brings everything you want to the table but I don't know if I see consistent 30 goal output from him. Would love to have him because he is at the very least a great 2nd line winger but he is tailor made for Philly so I doubt he ever leaves.

We may have to hope either Stone (probably too slow) or Noesen who I have only seen play once develops. Power forwards who can score 30 are as tough to get as high octane dmen (thank god for Karlsson).

Ottawa would be comfortably in 4th place if it wasn't for that absolutely ridiculous rule where the division leader gets a top 3 seed automatically. That will likely mean the difference between a first round date with the Leafs/Jets/Hurricanes/Rags/Devils OR the Bruins. Boooourns.

We would also be in 7th if there were no loser points handed out.

Sens have a lot of loser points and less ROWs than most...

Have to go through those teams, eventually. It might burn if Karlsson is >this close< to returning and we don't make it past the 1st round because we face the Bruins. But if it wasn't difficult, it would hardly be worth it, right? Not like back in the 6-team league. They were practically giving it away.

Depends, if the games ended in a tie, i.e. each team gets 1 pt, a lot of teams in the East would also have less pts.

That summarizes it quite well.

On another note... can't see how you let Gonchar walk at this point. Give him a 2 year deal and if he wants to retire after next season you go ahead and let him. Everyone knows exactly how valuable this guy is now and how truly great of a player he actually is.

Hopefully the news on Methot is not too bad and he only out a few games... this season has truly been unbelievable on all fronts...

Can't see why you wouldn't at least start the process of seeing what he wants.

Honestly, even after everything that's happened and how this team has responded, does anyone see *any* way we can keep up in tomorrow's game without Methot? The only thing I can think of is Lehner goes insane and shuts them out again, but that's not what happened the last time.

Exactly. Kick the tires and see what he wants because right now he's the main reason the Sens are where they are along with strong goaltending. The guy has done everything on the backend and created stability for a lot of the younger guys.

Bad news on Anderson:

@SunGarrioch: Tomorrow it will be a month since Craig Anderson suffered what has turned out a high ankle sprain. He was day-to-day at the time. #Sens

Confirms what has been floating around about the high ankle sprain... what is the typical recovery for that? 6-8 weeks? Ugh.
