Suck it idiot.

He'd always be in EK's shadow(and thus less money), he'd never get much PP time either. Yes our organization is better but he figured the Oilers are on the up.

I never thought he'd sign with us on that alone, doesn't want to be overshadowed by #65

Having said all that, I hope we're sellers at the deadline because being the Big Dog on draft day is so awesome. Drool I love you

Pretty silly when all things are said and done. He would have been PP1 with Karlsson I presume and he would have taken over top pairing the second Karlsson was down. What happens? He goes to a team that doesn't have a clue.

At least we got to see Gryba in that role and assess him, but Diddle what a mistake by Schultz (IMO lol).

I doubt we'd play 2 RH shots on the PP.

You're right, he wants the big bucks and he wants to be the N1 guy and it's more important to him than winning.
He could have been on the N1 PP Unit with EK, it's not like we can't have 2 RH shots in there.

As for Bishop vs. Lehner you still go with Lehner. He's accomplished more at his age than Bishop did.

If Bishop is this good at age 26, imagine where Lehner will be at.

I think we did underestimate how good Bishop is, I wonder how good he will be if/when the NHL reduces the size of goalie equipment ?

Why not? At one point we had DaCosta/Turris , Alfie, Zibanejad and Karlsson... That's 4 RH shots right there.

In fact it's better for one timers if it's an umbrella setup

That's what it's all about right? 1 day of the year where you get to see teenagers put on jersey's!

I'm always excited for the draft and love seeing the Sens pick players that could one day be in Ottawa and part of the community but there's another 364 days in the year where I love thinking about and/or watching the Sens compete for a cup or build towards that.

The Oilers have no idea what they are doing right now, none. Bishop might be one of their targets too.

Gryba at the end of the day might be a better fit on this team just simply because he fills a pretty big role that Shultz couldn't. The Sens have Karlsson and need someone to play that shutdown role on the right side. Sometimes there is too much talent but Shultz still would have been a big piece.

Gryba was amazing again last night incase I forgot to mention that.

Yeah we've used the umbrella set up with success but we've also had success with Gonchar and EK. You can easily pull off a one timer from either side.

We don't have a good leftie for the PP. That'd be Cowen but he's hurt and Wiercioch is still coming along.

We so would have had EK and Schultz as two righties on the PP. Bah...it would have been awesome.

I like having the RH and LH shot on the PP, opens up more options and harder to defend. Don't think Shultz and Karlsson would have ever been paired together on the PP for the simple fact there is only 1 puck on the ice.

I was at the game last night. I don't know what to say. Bishop was the man, and he yanked one back from the jaws of defeat.

It's funny comparing this team to those of the early 2000s. Back then we had all the talent and just not enough will to win...right now, we're pretty devoid of talent, but keep willing ourselves to victory. It's quite something.

Thought Benoit played well last night...he had a couple key blocks.

Bishop would make sense for them as well, I think Jarmo will make a move for him in the offseason once he's had time to assess the BJ's.

GM's love familiarity and he'll want prospects/players he is familiar with.

Anyway....what's done is done and as mentioned, we got to see what COULD be a possible shutdown defender for us for a long time in Gryba, whose made a lot of very talented NHL forwards his Wing Dang Doodle lately. Last night, he made one or two poor decisions, but that's a great team coming at him and forechecking hard - and he rebounded very well.

Gryba playing against a fast team like the Habs and holding his own was important IMO... showed he can play in any type of game. He's going to be around for a long time.

Turris is fine BTW. I see all those posts about him being awful not scoring goals etc. As long as he's getting the puck I'm not worried.
Plekanec with Markov is one of if not the best shutdown tandem in the NHL. Gotta give them credit.

Yeah, such a different mentality now than there was when we were a powerhouse. I love skill personally, it trumps everything, but you need players who "need" to win - and those teams didn't have enough of those. Now...we have a team that needs to win, and let's face it, our goaltending is miles better than it's ever been with the exception of Hasek - and even with him, look what happened, Emery wasn't ready at all, nor was the rest of the team to insulate him (until the Finals year).

I think, as fans, we all appreciate what Murray and co. has done. I like seeing call ups come up and actually look good - ie DD, Grant, Da Costa, Gryba, Benoit, Wiercioch. It's a lot of fun.
