So I'm in the market for a couple window fans.  Exciting stuff, I know.

Looking at one on Costco's website, the description is hilarious.

http://www.costco.ca/Bionaire%C2%AE-Energy-Saving-Manual-Thin-Window-Fan-.product.100110416.html

"This electronic window fan disperses invigorating, revitalizing coolness for maximum comfort and freshness. Lifeless air dissipates to breaths of nourishing air and the renewing effects of cooler air become more present in your surroundings. It is more powerful with 40% greater air velocity compared to similar window fans and 25% more compact to reduce window obstruction. With Bionaire® brand technology, you can live in harmony with nature for a serene home environment."

On this incredible dull subject, anyone have a window fan they care to recommend or slander?

Looks like a pretty good deal compared to the "cheap" Sunbeam models I am accustomed to. The Sunbeams are good and durable, though.

I'm just thrilled at the opportunity to finally live in harmony with nature.

Yeah, I found the Sunbeam "box" fan along with a couple other varieties. Reading the internet reviews is fun...half of reviews will say stuff like "It doesn't push any air and is super loud" and then the other half for the same fan will say "It blows like crazy and is so quiet!"

Hey everyone. Wondering if I could get some opinions. Which countertop do you like best for the below kitchen style/floors/cabinet colour etc?

I like the first one.

Also, this should be a poll with a Hogburglar option.

Just got a new fridge delivered.  This one has a water/ice dispenser and the old one didn't, so need to install a water supply line.  Yes, I could probably do it myself but I've ready that the various kits you can buy at Home Depot can be pretty bad (simple to use, but not durable).  We're just finishing up some kitchen reno and the plumber guy we had said he'd do it for around $170 (including parts) but he can't do it right away.  He also insists on using copper wire and coiling enough of it behind the fridge so you can still pull the fridge out.  He's against using plastic because he doesn't think they last if you are always moving them.  I read up on this in a few message boards and it sounds like more of a religious debate than one of technical merit.  Most prefer stainless-steel braided .  Personally, I'd prefer not to use copper.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows of some local (Ottawa/Kanata) plumbers/handymen they'd recommend.

Plumbers - I've used Parish Plumbingbefore with good results at a decent price.

Mustang - No idea why you'd waste your money, unless you have lots of it.  RWD cars are death here in the winter, so enjoy your accident(s). And I'm not exaggerating.

If you want something a little more practical but still fun to drive, go for a Mazda 3.

Here's a screenshot of Consumer Reports reliability history for Mustangs back to 2006.

The new mustangs are much better drivers and can be used as a daily driver in all seasons. There is a snow/ice mode included which really grips the road. With good winter tires and not being an idiot you would be fine driving it here in the winter. There are plenty of accidents with AWD and FWD cars because of the drivers not knowing how to drive.

The last mustang I drove on a semi daily basis was 2011 or so I believe.

No interest in Mazda. My next car will be the new mustang either GT or EcoBoost, BMW 335i or an Audi.

We will have to wait a while to see the reliability of 2015 and 2016 mustangs as the cars are completely different than their predecesors

You must be rolling in dough, and good for you if you are. To me, there are a bazillion more important things to save money for than to blow on a car that you'll be stuck driving the speed limit like the rest of us in our Hondas.

The cost of ownership for those cars you describe are pretty high. May I ask why you have your heart set on a "fancy" car?

I'm very curious about that as well. As someone making a serious effort to eliminate debt, I have trouble getting into the "fancy car" headspace.

Here, I pulled up a comparison using a couple of the Mustangs and some other cars from Consumer Reports.

When I think fancy car these days I think a nice tesla. That's where my money would go if I had money (to spend on a car)
Seriously EV go buy a Prius, you sound like a typical Prius driver to me. Plus the chicks really dig Prius drivers Naughty.

Im with you prags thought. 67 all The way. Nicely stored in the garage next to the 71 CB 750 modified.

Tesla would be my choice but it's 100k lmao. No thanks on a Prius.

Mustangs aren't too pricey for what you get. Especially if you don't get GT. It's not really a fancy car like a Porsche or something:

I probably won't end up getting one, at least not for a year, but not I'm not rolling in dough. It's just that I have my retirement savings maxed for now (not rrsp which I'm not using yet) and I have a pension at work so I can afford to buy something like this soon. At my age I want something fun to drive and fun to look at.
