Deer loses head-butt with lawn ornament

A love-struck buck ran out of luck a week ago. The seven-point
buck was killed when it rammed a 640-pound concrete statue of an
elk in the backyard of Mark and Carol Brye's home in rural
Viroqua.

Obviously the home owner did not cry when watching Bambi:

Mark Brye, who owns Brye Plumbing in Viroqua, was still laughing
about the suicidal buck he found near his elk statue last week.

This part is not for the squeamish:

Brye said the deer shattered its skull. The antlers were still
on its head but were dangling.

But all's well that ends well:

The deer is butchered and in Brye's freezer.

Crazy story;

Police found the remains of a missing Bahamas boater inside the belly of a 3.7-metre tiger shark on Jaws Beach.

Bahamas newspaper the Tribune reports that police identified Judson Newton by his fingerprints, but are waiting on DNA tests to confirm the identity.

Newton and his friend Franklin Roosevelt Brown have been missing since Aug. 29, when they set out on a boating trip with three others off Jaws Beach in New Providence.

Jaws Beach served as the location for the 1987 movie Jaws: The Revenge.

The boaters ran into engine trouble and called for help. When the Royal
Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) arrived, they found three boaters aboard the vessel. They said the other two had gone overboard to pull the boat ashore, but never came back.

On Sept. 5, an investment banker on a deep-sea fishing trip caught a tiger shark about 61 kilometres south of New Providence, and a leg popped out of the beast's mouth as they were reeling it up.

RBDF officers later sliced the shark's belly open, revealing another leg, two arms and a torso ripped in two.

There's still been no sign of Brown, though authorities fear he may have met the same demise.

This is nuts! How can this Dung still be happening with all the apparent "Heightened security"?! Friggin' scary how well done the mask was.

VANCOUVER - Transport Canada is investigating after a passenger allegedly boarded an Air Canada flight from Hong Kong to Canada disguised as an elderly man, according to an intelligence report.
The CBSA intelligence alert from Nov. 1, obtained by CNN, said a passenger thought to be an elderly white man who "appeared to have young looking hands" boarded a flight from Hong Kong to Vancouver on Oct. 29, and later emerged from the washroom as an Asian man in his early 20s.

The man was escorted off the flight at Vancouver International Airport on Oct. 29 and he proceeded to claim refugee status. The document said the suspect had one bag, but the flight crew found two more containing a pair of gloves, a silicone head and neck mask of an elderly white man, brown leather cap, glasses and cardigan.

"The subject donned the 'disguise' for (border security officers) and they noted that he very much resembled an elderly Caucasian man, complete with mimicking the movements of an elderly person," the intelligence report said.

"The subject admitted at this time that he had boarded the flight with the mask on and had removed it several hours later."
The report - headlined "unbelievable case of concealment" - said it is believed the man in his 20s used an Aeroplan frequent flyer card as identification to board the flight and swapped boarding passes with a U.S. citizen born in 1955.


It is not clear who the U.S. citizen is or why he traded boarding passes with the young man, nor is it known where in the airport the pair exchanged passes.

In a statement Friday afternoon, CBSA confirmed that they "intercepted and detained the traveller attempting to enter Canada under false pretences" on Oct. 29.

The young man, whose name has not been released, is in CBSA custody and will appear before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada "as is standard procedure," CBSA said.

Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick told QMI Agency, "It should be noted that there are multiple identity checks before departure at the Hong Kong international airport, including Chinese government-run Hong Kong passport control, which Hong Kong originating passengers must undergo."

Transport Canada said it is aware of the event and "is investigating whether the identity screening regulations were respected."
Officials with the Hong Kong International Airport were unable to comment on the matter.

The online era has spawned quite a few internet acronyms and initialisms, several of which have become 100 per cent mainstream, which is why the following story is so odd.

A Massachusetts track team made the news recently after their jerseys raised a few eyebrows –- and likely caused quite a bit of snickering amongst fellow runners.

The jerseys sported the initialism for Wakefield Track and Field given the team by the booster club the following last season in bold red letters on the sweaters.

Yes, their jerseys said ‘WTF.’

The superintendant, Joan Landers, claimed ignorance when asked how the acronym slipped through the cracks saying that she wasn’t aware of the double meaning associated with WTF.

LOL.

If he watched Modern Family he may have thought it stood for "Why The Face?"

MONTREAL — More than 80 pigeons have keeled over and died at a farm near Quebec City for unknown reasons, the latest in a string of mysterious animal deaths around the world.

Environmental officials in the province say there’s no connection to a similar case in Arkansas, but Sylvain Turmel is wondering why he’s been picking up dead pigeons for more than two weeks on his farm in Saint-Augustine-de-Desmaures.

The first dead bird was found on Dec. 18. He’s since found more bodies on his roof and inside the barn.

“I was stunned,” he said.

“I went to see my tenant to ask whether he’d been feeding them poison. He ended helping me pick up 25 corpses. In the time it took us to collect them, five more had fallen. Authorities thought it might be gas. But that’s not possible.”

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries said tests are currently being performed at the animal pathology lab in the provincial capital.

“The cause right now isn’t known,” said Nicolas Begin. “It’s not related to what happened in the U.S. (But) we don’t see this sort of thing every day and we’re treating this as a serious matter.”

About 5,000 birds fell from the sky in Arkansas over the New Year’s weekend. That incident is part of a string of fish and animal deaths seen in the U.S. and Europe, including a case in Maryland where two million fish washed up on the shores of Chesapeake Bay earlier this month, blamed on a rapid drop in temperature.

In Quebec, firefighters and police visited Turmel’s property to check for fumes or criminal activity. Wildlife officials assured him the birds weren’t killed by the avian flu or the West Nile virus, but he’s been wary about touching them without gloves.

He said wildlife officials took seven of the dead birds for analysis and told him not to speak with the media. Still, the feisty landowner called a local radio station to recount the incident.

“There’s something going on,” he said. “This is not normal.”

So you don't even have to be a pro athlete these days to think that you're above the law. Whatta d-bag.

Hmm, I don't know if he's a d-bag or not. Not terribly savvy, that's for sure. You've got to know which battles *not* to pick (anyone who has seen "Meet the Parents" should know). Teenagers (I have to add *some* teenagers) wear their pants like that and, personally, I cannot stand it. And it's been ridiculed for quite a long time -- remember that little speech from Cher in "Clueless" about "baggy pants"?

So okay, I don't want to be a traitor to my generation and all but I don't get how guys dress today. I mean, come on, it looks like they just fell out of bed and put on some baggy pants and take their greasy hair - ew - and cover it up with a backwards cap and like, we're expected to swoon? I don't think so.

That movie quote is from 16 years ago.

But is he a d-bag just for being a slave to stupid fashion (or stupid slave to fashion)?
