Copy and pasted from the Heatley saga thread where I originally posted it:
Here is a true story about me and a friend. I wonder if any of you guys were at the game as well and saw me. ***I am just going to get facts out so I apologize for the poor writing skills I will show right now***
Our magical run in the playoffs 2006/07. First Round of the playoffs, Game 5 at home against the Penguins. We are already up 3-1 in the series and we can clinch and rest up if we win. My Buddy (Shaun) and I have tickets and we decide to dress up. Me in full Gladiator costume and Shaun as a penguin. I have a leash around Shaun's neck and I am dragging him like you would if you hated your dog (is that possible?). Shaun has a sign over his head and the front part reads, "Bound and gagged in 5" and the back part reads "Emery owns me".
Anyways, the second we park, put on our costumes and start walking to the gates, everyone starts taking our picture and saying we are going to win. This is my first ever game in Ottawa, so we are sort of just happy to be there and we really don't formulate what people are saying. More people take our picture, it's a mad house outside the arena, Ian Mendes interviews us, radio guys, Brent Wallace from TSN and everyone keeps saying we are going to win. Finally I ask, what are we going to win? THE FAN OF THE GAME, they respond and the contest is going to start right now, get up there.
We go over to the Radio shows booth and they are running the contest. 8, 2 person teams entered and you had 10 seconds to act crazy and get fan applause. 6 were eliminated right off the bat, leaving Shaun and I and this crazy hot duo of twin sisters. Twins Basil!
We had to do another 10 seconds showdown and we somehow beat these girls, they really had no costumes, but man were they smokin'.
Shaun and I had upper deck seats that were quickly upgraded to sitting behind the Penguins bench right where they enter onto the ice. The radio guy said that our main goal as fan of the game is to piss the Penguins off. Asking me to do that, is what I was born for BTW. I was in my glory!
I made those Penguin players so mad. Talbot faked like he was going to swing his stick at me. I had Scuderi is tears almost. Roberts has never been the same. Malkin had no clue what to think of me. The trainer was furious and wanted me ejected.
A season ticket holder that was sitting across the tunnel, half-way through the game told me that he has had tickets right there for 10 years and he has never seen anyone get the other team so mad. I was told to tone it down a bit by security many times, but they really just said that because the Penguins were complaining to him about me. I never swore once, never shook the glass and those were the only things I could get in trouble for.
That was my first experience at Scotianbank Place, can you tell why I am a fan now?
I am going to post this and then go back and read it and fix some things. Hope you enjoyed my experience as much as I did.
