Where does everyone live? I'm checking out homes in Barrhaven and Riverside South even though I am probably going to live somewhere closer to downtown.

That actually is where just about everyone lives. And the building never stops.

If you're looking for a bargain close to downtown, there are some pretty established neighborhoods in Vanier you might want to consider.

Right now I'm weighing buying a condo in Little Italy and moving in in two years or buying a suburban home in about one year.

That's a good spot too. Easy access to the O-Train which will take you to the Transitway. Depends how much coin you can spend, as with anything. New construction is usually a pretty quick moneymaker too so you can really hit the ground running when you move to the 'burbs.

Yeah, the condo I'm looking at is a 694 sq. ft condo + parking for around $330,000 whereas you can get a 1100+ square foot, 2-3 storey new village/town home for as low as $230,000 (not usually, but my sister got one for this price with a big discount).

I live in Kanata right now and I don't think it's the greatest if you're a first time home buyer/bachelor. Suburbs are way more city-like now but still far away from most things (other than the CTC).

Morgan's Grant -- that's the northern tip of Kanata. Kanata is stupid -- it can literally take a half hour to drive across from one end to the other -- over 10 km along March Road with something like 18 traffic lights, and much of it just 2 lanes in each direction.

I'm in Stittsville, very close to the CTC.

My buddy just sold his condo in Little Italy a couple months ago.  It was a nice central spot, really close to the highway and good public transportation too.

I'm getting married and also looking for a newly built home. Fiance wants a home in barrhaven but I don't since it's too close to my in-laws (smart right?). Kanata is my first choice since I'm in high-tech but all the new homes being built in south kanata are right behind the hydro corridor. Good ol' EMF!

So I'm boned and don't really know where to look and instead waste my time on gmhockey.

Chara drove pretty fast, too. It was a family-oriented crescent and that wasn't a very popular move. I think the girls were still toddlers.

Anyone have any experience living on a lower floor (2nd -3rd floor) apartment? I really like a 2nd floor unit at the new Tamarack condo in Hintonburg however I'm not sure about living so close to the ground.

Do you live on or near the ground now?

What issue do you foresee in a 2nd or 3rd floor condo?

just noise, less privacy, no view, etc. But I don't think it would be bad, just different from what I'm used to.
