Unbelievably brutal interference call on Neil. Horrible.

Unbelievable goal by Foligno! Muscled it through the two defenders and put it home. Highlight reel material.

Sens up 2-1 after 2.

GO SENS GO!!!

i guess, but a loss is a loss and bottom line is he couldn't make the save when needed too, which pretty much makes everyone forget about how he played before that... He's got a problem with giving up goals at the worst times, which just cripple the team, we'll never succeed with goaltending like that... He made some really nice saves tonight, but just couldn't make enough... Hopefully he can get better, but I doubt it...

Sens lost tonight because their big money players (Spezza, Fisher, Capt. Heatley) were awful.

When your goaltender's save percentage is .927 against the Stanley Cup champions, no fan has anything legitimate to complain about. Was the last goal frustrating? Of course it was. But if the Sens had bothered to show up tonight, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Or maybe the Sens really are not a playoff team, as many pundits have predicted.

I missed that last goal... was it all on Gerber? Was he out of position? I'll have to check the highlights...

BAH!!!!

So frustrating. He was doing so well.

Last damn minute.

That was Frustrating! I can't pin that one entirely on gerbs. Detroit had 41 shots, many good ones. Ottawa had 22 shots. Sure, the timing was awful, but that was a very bad bounce, one off of the defender's stick, then off of the ice.

I have to say our team looks good though, even in the loss and with the shot differential. There is still work to be done, but I like what we have to work with. :D

P.S.
Khabby had 4 Goals against on his 34 shots tonight, for what it's worth.

SPezza and Fisher were absolutly awful tonight! Spezza must have had 3 give aways in his own zone, I dont care who you are playing againsts, thats unacceptable.

Fisher was brutal and just not into the game at all, brutal.

Yeah microscope's on Gerber but the forwards weren't that great either, and indeed if they had scored more goals we probably woudn't be having this discussion...

Heatley and Spezza had a poor game. Hopefully they'll rebound against the Coyotes. Spezza has no confidence, hopefully Hartsburg can find a way to bring it back, like he seems to have done with Gerber.

Speaking of which, Gerber looked pretty damn good tonight IMO.

Watching Detroit really showed how pitiful our break-out is. Why doesn't Lee try carrying the puck more? I can only remember him carrying it up once and it resulted in a clean entry into the zone.

I wish Fisher would shoot more.

I thought the young kids for the most part had a good game. Winnie Lecavalier looked pretty good against the boards, and Foligno had a determined goal.

Is Kim Johnsson available? We could really use another PMD.

Top line wasn't doing much, but some others were pretty good. Winchester continues to impress me with his poise. Foligno had some good shifts, as did Vermette and Donovan. And while Gerber made a lot of saves, quite a few were of the rebound variety. Was the game really as one-sided as the shot count indicated? Not from what I watched (the second and part of the third).

Gerber had on of his strongest games since he's become a Sen. The last goal was weak, but without his tending up till then it could easily have been 6 or 7 to 1.

I can't believe how badly Heatley and Spezza played, these are the times were you lean on them so heavily. I'll toss this one up to the layoff between games and the Swedish trip because we know how awesome they are.

Fisher just wasn't in game shape, that was pretty much the long of the short of that.

Our D is very slow retreating back for pucks.

Winchester should be on the top line once and for all. What a beast along the boards! Wow.

Foligno's is definitely an early nominee for goal of the year.

What else...oh...Detroit is a lot better than we are. We looked like deer caught in headlights in the first, it could've been so much worse.

None of our D were particularily great to be honest. Not a great transition game at all (although Detroit's pretty friggin handy at breaking up breakouts).

Practice this week and try to shake off the rust for Friday.

It's a shame... as all the focus will be on Gerber when he was not the main reason for the loss.

EDIT: Don Brennan is already at it. His article today is titled: "Soft Gerber goal brings out boobirds at Bank..."

Sigh...
