Take into account, sure. But to throw everyone who is not a favored prospect under the bus to absolve Lehner of any responsibility for his bad season is something I can't agree with.
Here are the guys who have done well:
1.Borowiecki
2.Gryba
3.Wiercioch
4.Hoffman
5.Cannone
6.Petersson
That's basically it.
Locke has come in and in 22 games leads the
entire team in scoring. Also, Da Costa and Klinkhammer have comparably high stats in 20ish games.
That's a stat that's very Cussed up, even if he is the reigning AHL MVP. The B-Sens have a measly 116 goals for 22nd in the entire league as well, so they don't score. They've also given up the 2nd most in the league, that is a tale of woe. That's the kind of situation you want your franchise G to NOT be in IMO.
This is a woeful team - and yet Lehner is still at a .909 and McKenna is at .918 - two unbelievably good statistics - especially considering both of these guys went a long time between starts.
What a difference a calm and cool D vet would have made - Benoit's gone, D.Smith is gone and they replace them with...Conboy.
Of course, there are other reasons this happened. Grant has had a terrible year in terms of health and production - he just can't get back on track after injuring himself and Locke being out for half the season was devastating to a team who had already lost Z.Smith, Condra, Butler, Greening and Daugavins from their forward core. Dziurzynski, Cowick and O'Brien all took steps backwards to add to the fun that is the Binghamton Senators.
