Big Ev wrote:I wouldn't draft based on handedness, just like you don't draft based on need. They don't need to trade up to get a good D. If they really want one guy specifically, then sure.

there are some D after Ceci who are right handed and who are probbably/possible second rounders, though. Ville Pokka, Calle Andersson, Jordan Schmaltz.

There's a chance one of Ceci, Trouba, and Dumba are available at 15 though. You never know. The latter 2 not likely though.

No, but if it's a quetion of "move up to draft the better right handed D man" vs "LH D man not as good but don't have to give up an asset to draft there".

There's starting to be a lot of buzz around Lindholm:

TEAM 1200 ‏@TEAM1200Ottawa
Hockeysverige.se reports #Sens interested in Swedish D Hampus Lindholm, if he's available at 15. Endurance test results were off the charts.

9h Shawn Simpson ‏@SSimpsonHockey
@TEAM1200Ottawa Calle Johansson feels he's the best Swedish player in the draft. Compared him to Nik Lidstrom, no pressure lol. #TresKroner!

Why does TSN (ISS rankings) have him listed a a RW?

There's a huge hole on the right side and it may have to be adressed. Maybe they think Claeson was a huge find in terms of the defensive D man on the right side but after Gonchar is gone they need to fill that hole. I like Koekkoek and am not super huge on Ceci but thinking logically (which is most times flawed) the Sens need a Trouba/Ceci.

If Ceci is there at #15 you have to take him. He's a home town favorite from his days with the 67s, fills a need, moving up in the rankings.

Also our coach will have to speak Swedish pretty soon.

I wouldn't mind him but there are other d-men who play better defensively that I prefer over him.

I've been a big Lindholm fan since January when when he started shooting up the rankings. Guy has good feet, great size and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. It may be the Erik Karlsson effect, but 2 of my favourite prospects are Lindholm and Calle Andersson, would be nice if we could walk away with one of them.

I only saw Lindholm in the relegation tourney. Where are you seeing the other two?

Point I was making if there is a RH d man vs a LH D man and all things are equal, you go with the righty.

Also, which one would be ready sooner? Ceci is an inch shorter but already over 200 lbs and has played the NA style. I'm not saying he's going to jump into the lineup this year, but we still have Gonchar for one more year and we should (IMO) resign Carkner. So Ceci would not be needed until next year, and he can be the 6/7 guy with Carkner.

Of course that means we need another RH (or right-side-playing) D-man for the second pairing.

Diddle London. Hope somebody else picks him now. Knights are shady scumbags.

Tie Domi disagrees. That said, there is a reason why places like London get the better players... it's because they know how to develop them.
