I'd sign him to a 1 year 2-way if it's possible and have him play in Bingo and be a call-up. He's a solid player, there's no reason not to sign him - unless he has ideas of going to Europe.

I agree. Though my guess is that Hoffman, Petersson, and Da Costa will most likely get shots ahead of the Daug.

Da Costa maybe, but I feel Daugavins is better suited for a call-up than Hoffman or Petersson at this point.

I'd guess something around $800k per year.

I'll say 1.1, not much over or under that IMO.

I'll say $800K or $900K. Under $1 mil for sure, I'd think. Both Foligno and Regin had accomplished more when they signed their deals, which are the closest comparables I can think of.

Hoffman was barely AHL-calibre last season.

He progressed well at the end of the season and in the playoffs though, so if he adds muscle, he might be a candidate to be a call-up later in the season. I agree though, Hoffman needs to come in focused and ready for the AHL so he can be counted on in the top 6.

I'm going to say $950k for year one, 1.15 for year two....but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes as high as $1-1.2 million average.

Bobby Butler highlights from the Sens' website:

He looks pretty good on those goals Cheering

Hoffman was really good in the playoffs apparently and looked good in the development camp.

He'll hopefully be top-6 in Bingo this year so we can look forward to more improvement from him :skater:

I was a bit surprised to learn that he was making $900K last season. You'd figure a raise is in order, so he could very well join the millionaire's club (which really isn't as exciting as it used to be).

Big difference, tho', re: 2-way vs. 1-way. An unestablished player's first 1-way deal is often less than the NHL salary in the 2-way deal.

Bozak is an example of this, I believe.

Guys will sacrifice a lot to get a 1 way, but I think the reasons Butler's negotiation had gone on this long was because he likely saw Condra and Greening get one way deals and felt he was sure to get one as well.

...so you let him hang around long enough to realize that as an RFA with no arbitration rights, he really has very little bargaining power.

True.

So, still no numbers?

This is mainly due to the bonuses that factor in, which they usually never meet. Bozak had a TON of bonuses in his contract...

Pretty close.

19.4% raise (from $900K to $1.075M cap hit). More than I expected but not by all that much. On the other hand you can look at it as a 5.6% raise this year, and a 33% raise the second year. He'd better have a pretty good year to warrant a 33% raise Dammit!
