I maintain that they should have qualified Potulny and, if nothing else, put him on a Keller-like deal in B-town. Even if he didn't make the big show, he was dynamite for them in the playoffs.

Shame about Bass. Bailey, meh.

Potulny is Europe bound.

Played for Columbus and Springfield (their AHL team).

Yeah, I got the 2 past seasons mixed-up. Like I said, the fact that he actually came back from the KHL is a positive. I think people are being a little too skeptical. It's not like Radulov, for example.

This is one of those years where everyone thinks nothing is coming in Ottawa and July 1, we sign Brad Richards.

Yah, a little surprised Bass didn't get qualified... I for sure though he earned his place in the organization both on and off the ice. Guess they don't see much of a future.

They must feel confident that they can put someone else in Potulny's spot and be fine. Same with Bass. I feel badly for Potulny, he did amazing for us, but we're stocking up on prospects who'll need a spot, so...what can we do but let some guys walk.

IMO, that solves the challenged Kinopka article in the Sun, we're letting guys walk who're similar to Z, so we're not running out to sign him.

This was (at least one) unpopular move that Tim Murray was alluding to a couple of weeks back. Bass is one of the first names that came to mind. Potulny too because he will be in relatively high demand.

I assume Gonchar's not being moved at this point. When does Kuba get moved?

I think a lot of this has to do with sheer number of players we have to deal with here. Go check out the number of signed players, RFAs, and pending UFAs we have. With only 50 contracts or so to had out, we have to start trimming the fat. Every time we sign a guy to his ELC, or bring in someone like Da Costa, we're potentially squeezing another guy out before too long. Bass may well be just a victim of the numbers, although the fact that he's not a priority to re-sign shows that he's been surpassed by a few guys in the depth chart.
