That's good news. Scary stuff.

On another note, Dung game for TN, but great for Greening and Svatos. I love that these guys are gonna make it tough for the decision makers. Think Svatos' play warrants a 2-way next year?

Maybe, but not with Ottawa.
Never know. We'll have decimated the B-town ranks. He could be signed for depth.
i have a feeling he'd take off back to europe before he'd get stuck in the AHL.
someone will probably give him a chance somewhere

Take Marek's recent success with a grain of salt and a look back at his season to date. 8 points in 27 games. 5 points in 18 with the Sens. He went pointless in his first 12. Let's see what happens the rest of the way.

I'd still try to sign him to a cheap two way deal. If he really wants to make it back to the NHL it's the only way for him. Ottawa is still desirable with a chance to grab a spot. Win for us if he sucks he plays AHL hockey and provides help down there.

I think it'll still be a lottery pick.

Yeah, we play Boston, Philly, and Montreal next week. That will be tough unless they rest some of their guys.

We need that Top 3 but if not, I want Huberdeau or Couturier.

You see why I was syaing now Couturier would fall out of the top 5? Huberdeau is the real deal, at least as much so as Couturier is. A lot of guys caught up as opposed to Couturier dropping down.

As for the lottoe pick, unless they catch both NYI and NJ, The Sens still have a shot in the lotto. They are tied with The Panthers right now and like you said, they play some teams that are either A) fighting for their lives or B) just better. Karlsson also might be done for the season now as well so...

Svatos was a body Ottawa could put into the lineup, that's it. He won't get a contract from The Sens but at least he is showing that he can play in The NHL. I hope he gets a deal.

Probably not. The Sens have a ton of players they drafted or signed as UFA's fighting for a spot up front next year.

O'Brien, Wick, Greening, Condra, Smith, Lassard (depends what happens with Carkner) Da Costa, Butler, Landeskog (for sake of argument), 2nd 1st round pick. If a guy like Silfverberg or Peterson come over they will be fighting it out. Svatos is on his last legs in The NHL and The Sens can't waste a roster spot in Ottawa or Bingo on a guy that has basically no future in Ottawa.

Karlsson didn't even require a hospital visit so I'd be a little surprised if he's done for the season. If he is then go Tank nation. It also doesn't sound serious enough to keep him out long enough to affect his offseason training etc...

Nono, but it might keep him out a week, haha. That's all.

From the Ottawa Sun today:

http://www.ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/2011/03/31/17831826.html

The Senators lost Erik Karlsson in the first period with a thigh laceration. Senators coach Cory Clouston said Karlsson’s cut required “24 or 25” stitches to close, but the good news is that it didn’t appear to reach the muscle. He didn’t know how long the defenceman will be out.

Some interesting markers last night... Kuba with his first of the year (holy moly) and Foligno with his 100th point. Greening with his first two-goal game.

Nicely done.

That pass that Svatos made to Greening was SICKWICKEDANDNASTY, but, as others have pointed out, he won't be getting a new contract from the Sens. Some other team will take a chance on him, or he'll go to Europe. A guy like him would make more money in Europe than in the AHL, I'm sure.

YEah, Karlsson won't be back. Sens are in tough to win a game from here on out.

Svatos is proving he can still play in The NHL and I look at a team like Detroit who may give him a shot. Seems like the kind of player they would go out and sign.

Best for tank nation to shut Karlsson down. There's only 5 games left right?

4 games, Sat, Tues, Thurs, Sat. But ya, Karlsson won't be back with that many stitches in his leg even under normal circumstances. Like I said, Ottawa is in tough to win any remaining games against teams with something to play for.

Couturier still won't fall out of the Top 5 IMO. Florida or the Isles won't pass on him. Strome is the one who's gonna "fall" if he continues to play underwhleming hockey in the playoffs.

Isles will more than likely go with Hamilton. They need some D. They have a ton of offense up front. Couturier behind Tavares though would be a solid 1, 2 punch going forward. I sitll think they go after Hamilton though.

Strome's playoffs are hurting him for sure. I think we talked about how his draft position would depend on what he does come playoff time... well he might be falling out of the top 7 or 8 right now.

and I put "fall" in quotation makrs because he wasn't quite up there yet in the rankings (average of all rankings).

I think the Isles have good current D and D prospects as it is, and I also like their forwards. I like everything about their prospects actually lol. Let's see if Wang and Snow and Co. can get it together.

De Haan, Hamonic, MacDonald, Streit, are all solid. They might want to take the #2 centre this year ande focus on drafting D next year (assuming they miss the playoffs again next year).

I might like Huberdeau for the Sens over Couturier because of his slick offense and skating abilities, but I am a fan of both. I doubt Huberdeau makes the NHL next year though, if that's what they are looking for.
