Sens Roster 2011/12

I thought this might be a good time for another one of these threads. This is of course assuming we can take what Brian Murray and Pierre Dorion have said at face value. I have nothing else to go on so that is what I'm going to use.

Brian Murray: We'll pick up maybe one UFA this off season.

Pierre Dorion: Who ever we draft will make an impact in the NHL next season (2011/12)

I will also assume that Anderson doesn't count as that FA and is signed before the end of the season.

Line 1 Michalek, Spezza, Butler
Line 2 UFA signing / Svatos (maybe?) Alfie (Man what a blunder?), Foligno, 2011 top 4 draft pick
Line 3 Condra, Regin, Greening
Line 4 Neil, Winchester, Zack Smith (how did I forget him?)

Phillips Kuba
Karlsson Gonchar
Carkner Cowen
Rundblad


There's still a lot up in the air on defense so that one is very hard to predict. Do they trade Kuba? I assume Lee gets moved for something of value finally though. I personally think they need to find a way to move Kuba despite his much improved play just to make room for the D men.

I think Rundblad will make the team over Cowen, of course, it'll be up to training camp to determine that. Cowen could likely use a season in the AHL.

I think if we can trade Kuba, we will. Lee may stick around if we can't get decent return. He's played pretty well of late.

Cap, just one glaring omission from your lines... no Zack Smith

Svatos & Potulny aren't doing themselves any favours lately (though I thought Svatos had his best game last night). I have to put both those guys down as long, long shots.

yeah you're missing z. smith and ALFIE! No biggie, replace Svatos and Potulny

I thought Svatos finally had a good game, he certainly seems to be trying.

Foligno is getting outplayed by Greening and Condra.

Regin is there. Although maybe he should play a year in the AHL to get some confidence back...harharhar.

Svatos was a spare body at a cheap price to finish the season, nothing more. He won't be back.

haha yes...shame on all of us.

looking at the lineup now, I wouldn't be surprised if either of regin, foligno, lee, or winchester are dangled at the draft in a bid to move up.

Greening - Spezza - Butler
Michalek - Landeskog/RNH (I hope to hell) - Alfredsson
Foligno - Z.Smith - Neil
Regin - Winchester - Shannon/Condra

Phillips - Lee
Karlsson - Gonchar
Kuba - Carkner/Cowen/Rundblad

Which is great, because it makes Rundblad and Cowen fight to the death with Carkner and even Lee for that final spot - although Lee's made it as a shutdown IMO. He's been f-ing brilliant.

The other huge battle in camp will be between Greening, Condra, Butler + the guys in Bingo who might be on the bubble like O'Brien and Wick (I stand by that these two need another year in Bingo, especially Wick).

Holy hell... look at that lineup and tell me we're gonna score more than 120 goals next year.

Good call on Shannon. Given how cheap he is, and how much he does (including, lately, PKing, manning the point during the PP in emergency situations, and creating some offence), it would be silly not to sign him to another $600K deal and keep him as our 13th forward, at the very least. You're not going to get a better deal that Shannon right now.
