He's 26 years old, but his birthday is in December which means he's technically in his 27th year of living. I'm assuming that doesn't matter in this case and that if he did have a NMC (which I still can't find proof of) that it won't have kicked in yet.

It would’ve been odd if Michalek had waived his NTC to leave San Jose and come to Ottawa.

Those sites are not definitive resources on this. Unless they have access to every single SPC out there and all the arrangements, it's all done by people asking questions etc... and getting info from the teams.

It may be that Neil and Michalek have NTC/NMC's and that info has not been made public.

Who knows? Murray knows.

Chip McCleary, the guy who is behind NHLSCAP, actually works (or at least worked) for the NHL, and his #1 responsibility is overseeing the league's management of the cap / the new CBA. I'm not saying he has absolutely everything covered (it would appear that the webpage has fallen to wayside in terms of his priorities), but there is, to my mind, no greater authority on these matters than Chip.

Cap Geek, for instance, comes out of Chip's work at NHLSCAP.

On the other hand, McCleary recommends Cap Geek too. These sites are useful reference points to estimate your teams cap situation and determine who has what clause. But I would certainly think the GM would have an idea of who has what clause too.

Not to debate websites, but Cap Geek is definitely superior in almost every aspect. Also, it's not related to Hockeybuzz, which is a big plus.

According to the letter of the CBA, it's technically impossible for Michalek to hold a NMC right now. If he has one, it doesn't kick in until 1 July 2011 at the earliest.

He sure does!

CapGeek actually has this info, but it doesn't claim to be comprehensive, just from the wording. For example, Phillips' page there says:

KNOWN CLAUSES: NTC

That makes it sound like there may be clauses that are not known. Besides, it does not provide a nice big list of all players with known clauses. At least not one I could find.

P.S. I just won tickets (from work) to the March 1 Boston game. My kid's b/d is the week before. He has no game or practice scheduled that day (two tournament games the two days before). This is perfect!
