We have one of Chicago's, Calgary's or Atlanta's 2nd rounder this year. IF all 3 miss the playoffs, that is potentially a 10+ spot earlier pick.
So ultimately since CAL and CHI are competing with Nashville also, we want Anaheim and Minnesota to take the last 2 spots in the playoffs, with Chicago, Calgary and Nashville not making it.

Bottom line, I don'T know which one of that and us getting a top 2 overall pick is more of a pipe dream (insert crying smiley here)

Definitely the latter. COL is the playing the worst hockey of all 30 teams right now, bar none.

At any rate, I hope the mighty Kings demolish Nashville.

Col is just awful. There is something terribly wrong in that organization if players are bailing like that and are super young.

I would be Foote calls it a career after this season as well.

Looks really bad on the younger core, there's barely an excuse to be made here, they have some nice talent - with the exception of goal - and even then, they shouldn't be losing as much as they are.

I think it's the managment, how the hell can you trade Stuart and a 1st for a guy like EJ who has proven nothing in The NHL.

Something is really rotten in Colorado, can't really fault Anderson for not caring.

All these comments from him and his agent about how great the Sens organization seems proof.

Colorado might become the Panthers of the West if they keep this up.

Something needs to happen there to be sure... I have no idea what the problem is there but they won't be signing any UFA's going forward, that's for sure.

Not sure, I assume they did their due diligence on that before they made the move. The part that bothered me wasn't just Stewart, but Shattenkirk as well - someone who had as much promise as Wiercioch or more and then actually got to that promise really early at the pro level. That's a head shaker to me, we'll do Stewart + pick for EJ, but if you're getting Shattenkirk, we'll take Schwartz - I mean...come on.

As for EJ, I can't comment too much, I've only seen him play 10 or 15 times (I think the Blues are sooo boring), but he hasn't impressed. Possibly he matures and becomes what they want him to, who knows I guess.

The differential is that they have Duchene + Statsny + EJ + David Jones (apparently part of the reason they moved Stewart), but still...what the Diddle have you done over there? This is what people talk about when they say they don't want to tank, it affects the young players without question. Duchene should be embarrassed, I'm sure he is.

EJ might not even be better than Shattenkirk.

Theoretically it's hard to argue with that, gut feeling is that EJ will be a 50+ point D-man at some point soon, plus he's a big, big boy, which is not to put down Shattenkirk, but I think at the time of trade, it's not really close. But for Shattenkirk to be a toss in? What are you thinking Colorado/Sherman.

Who knows, St Louis won that trade as they got the 2 best players in that deal, not just one.

If EJ explodes as expected (big if at this point) St-Louis will look ridiculous. I expect him to improve enough to make the Blues look silly regardless of the return (and no EJ and Shatty aren't close at this point in time).

Stewart and Shattenkirk as the return is basically 'as good as it gets'. If EJ wins a Norris, then the Blues will look silly, but at least they'll have a 30 or even 40 goal guy + a 35 point D-man as the return, right?
