Surprised that word got past the filters. Need a funny euphemism for that particular part of the female anatomy.

That first episode was pretty average. I was engaged, but nothing like season 1 - which was pretty much the best season of TV I've ever seen.

I mean it can't be high paced for several seasons in a row because the show goes all over the place if that's the case, like what happened to Lost. It needs to be like a rollercoaster, with some build up so that way the highs are more (i.e. red wedding) accentuated.

I thought it was a pretty solid first episode.  Set the framework pretty well.  I also really enjoyed the final fight scene there.

I really missed GoT, glad it's back.  Nothing else like it.

I was playing S1E01 on the upstairs TV using the ChromeCast thingy. Tried the AllCast app and, once I modified the bitrate to "Adaptive" it played pretty well -- except that the free one will only play one minute (it actually played for a lot longer not sure if you remember the opening scene, but it went past the point where that thing with the glowing blue eyes sliced off the other guy's head and tossed it at his feet -- that's a lot more than 1 minute in, I think). Anyhow, this probably belongs in the other thread. The format is mp4 with a subtitle stream and it didn't play full-screen (had to set the TV aspect ratio to "theatre-wide") and there was no way to enable the subtitles (except on the tablet itself). The search continues.

I use a Roku 3 to stream stuff from my PC.  My PC runs Plex Media Server, so it transcodes stuff on the fly.  Plex can serve up any media type to my wife's iPad and the Roku at the same time, just fine.

In my bedroom, I use a WDTV Live Hub (built-in 1TB hard drive).  It'll play whatever I copy to it...I didn't want to stream stuff up there because it's a wireless network connection and therefore less likely to be stable and fast.

Plex is pretty sweet. It's based on XBMC at it's core. Pretty slick interface.

I have an Apple TV v2 jail broken and running XBMC "Frodo" v12.3 at the core of my Media Center. Love it.

My PCS is ancient and I need to stream from my tablet. On the downstairs TV I could copy the files to a USB and play via either the TV itself or the PS3. Trouble with copying things off the tablet is the time it takes. And, of course, if I want to watch upstairs my options are limited to ChromeCast.

Heh. Well, either keep fighting and struggling with the setup you have now or re-visit it, re-invest and start a new, much like the Vancouver Canucks.

Interestingly, there is a Plex Android app that supports ChromeCast. But is this the media server or something else? The description includes this note: "NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A PLEX MEDIA SERVER (AVAILABLE FOR FREE AT https://plex.tv/downloads) INSTALLED AND RUNNING TO STREAM LOCAL MEDIA." So it doesn't sound like with this app alone (nearly $6 btw) I could play videos to ChromeCast.

I also installed LocalCast to try it out. Seems to play the video fine, and has buttons for subtitles, but clearly not meant for the embedded subtitles stream in the MP4 file. Perhaps if I download a .srt file, rename it to match the .mp4 file, then it will pick that up?
