I watched S3 of The Killing via magical means. It's quite different (and I have to admit I missed some of the characters). The new case is heavy into street kids and it just wasn't my cup of tea.Hoags wrote:Just finished the first seasons of The Killing on Netflix. Great show, a bit surprised at the hate it gets. They shouldn't have spread the whole case over two seasons and it got annoying with the amount of red herrings but I enjoyed it a lot. Great conclusion, can't wait for the 3rd season.
Finally watched Moneyball on Netflix as well. Awesome film.
I really got sick of the Larsons and their drama after 2 seasons so I'm glad it's over. It's a great show, worth watching for Linden and Holder alone.wprager wrote:

It is. The resolution was pretty bad, though. Holder and Linden still good. I liked the acting from S1&2 (especially the parents).Hoags wrote:I really got sick of the Larsons and their drama after 2 seasons so I'm glad it's over. I heard a little bit about S3 and if it's a new case that's resolved in 1 season it should be good as that fixes most of the problems from the first two seasons.
I liked the acting from S1 and S2 including the parents, it just got tiring after a while, dragged on for too long. That sucks that the resolution is bad, I thought they concluded S2 very well.wprager wrote:

You should check out Broadchurch -- similar to The Killing but resolved in 8 episodes (it's BBC, starring David Tennant -- of Doctor Who and Harry Potter fame).
Luther S1 and S2 is on Netflix (S3 like I mentioned will be available elsewhere soon). Highly recommended. Idris Elba is very good.Hoags wrote:I liked the acting from S1 and S2 including the parents, it just got tiring after a while, dragged on for too long. I'll check that out, I've been looking for something similar. A crime series that focuses on writing, atmosphere and character development instead of needing car chases or gun fights every 5 minutes or CSI gimmicks.
Cumberbatch is the voice of Smaug in the Hobbit movies; they are inseparable.Hoags wrote:Just watched Episode 1 of Sherlock last night and it's amazing. I avoided it because I'm a big fan of Doyle's stories and I figured they'd just butcher the character with this modern version but it's great.
Cumberbatch and Bilbo are terrific in it.
You don't need any plugins, you just need to know the IP address of a couple DNS servers. This way you can program this into your router to get US (or other location) Netflix on all your devices. The Silfer Server wrote:Reddit showed me a really easy way to get american netflix. If you use chrome or firefox, you can download and install the plug-in at mediahint.com. Then just go to the American Netflix website, and it will work.
To access British netflix, apparently you can use the plug in at https://hola.org/.
I don't remember Smaug talking in the first film I guess we'll see it in the 2nd one. I figure he's more known for Star Trek into Darkness now.wprager wrote:

But if you do it that way, then will you still be able to access Canadian content?wprager wrote:You don't need any plugins, you just need to know the IP address of a couple DNS servers. I had my idea/theory on how to do that. Worst case you change back and forth. Or watch Community S4 and after that, really, what content is there that Netflix Canada has that the US one doesn't?The Silfer Server wrote:But if you do it that way, then will you still be able to access Canadian content?wprager wrote:You don't need any plugins, you just need to know the IP address of a couple DNS servers. Smaug wasn't in the first one, you just hear him in the promos/previews for the second one.Hoags wrote:I don't remember Smaug talking in the first film I guess we'll see it in the 2nd one. I figure he's more known for Star Trek into Darkness now.wprager wrote:

And yes Sherlock is more awesome the more I watch it.
