Not convinced they'll be "scary", although they should contend for a playoff spot. A lot of that will depend on PK, Markov, and (giggle) Kaberle. There's also guys like Deharnais, Bourque, Leblanc, etc that will be counted on to produce.

Patch is also a cornerstone on that team. If he can repeat what he did this year, they'll be in good shape.

Cole had close to a career year, he will not have that same kind of success again and when he doesn't the fans will turn on him because he's the easy target. Pacioretty is a solid piece for sure but still isn't all that consistant, Plekanec is usually par for the course, solid player.

Bourque is AWFUL. He's soft, lazy, and is on one of the worst contracts in the NHL.

Montreal's make up is that of the Leafs, just a bunch of pieces thrown together and they hope it works. It won't.

I think you're really selling them short still. Even if Cole digresses to 25 goals, a healthy Gionta more than makes up for that. Bourque isn't my favourite player, I'll agree that he has issues with his work ethic, but he had three 20+ goal years leading up to the trade, then had the most remarkably terrible 38 games in Montreal and still ended up with 18, so he can score at this level. Let's see what Hartley can do with him.

You left out the fact that they have a franchise goalie in Price. You left out Gorges, the kind of guy that goes to war for you, you left out Desharnais - a quiet 60 point player last year and a guy who paid his dues in the AHL, registering great numbers.

The jury's still out on Diaz and Emelin, but both block shots and hit with aplomb. The jury's really out on PK - probably because I hate him. There are negatives as well - like Kaberle and the fact that they traded Cammelleri, but this team will be solid.

I don't think they will have as bad a season as they did last year but you are talking about them like you always talk about the Leafs. Should we make a little wager on where they finish? Last place in the division again.
